“In Days Of Old”

“We have heard with our ears, O God,
Our fathers have told us,
What deeds You did in their days,
In days of old. . .”  Psalms 44:1

I love to hear what God has done . .. and is doing right now.

Oh Lord, we desire to be a part of the story You are currently working on.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Nowadays                                                                                            in_days_of_old_dvd

We’ve heard our father’s stories
all You did of old
passed down to us as treasures
to have and forever hold

still You are God Almighty
powerful in all ways
and so we seek to be a part of
all You’re doing yet today.

  1. Oh I love this, Sis Deb! I do love all HIS stories, and the stories that we are now privileged to be part of. God bless you on Worshipful Wednesday–love, sis Caddo

  2. I like to do puzzles of trains and westerns themes. I like reading some westerns, of living in different days. I love even more hearing what God has done and is still doing. I think this may be one of your best poems yet Deb.

  3. should be puzzles. 🙂

  4. amazing

  5. What the Lord is doing for us today will be the stories that will be told tomorrow. Thnaks for reminding us that the Lrod is still at work today! Lord bless you Deb

  6. To good to just ‘like’. Love it.

  7. I love remembering who He is and what He has done and can do… thank you, Debbie, for helping us remember how awesome He is! He has more amazing things still to do.
    Blessings ~ Wendy

  8. This is how I picture “communion”, not so much about a cup and a bit of bread but very much about remembering, telling what all the Lord has done!

  9. On my wall, just above my computer, I have a quote from an unnamed man on my bulletin board:

“I don’t want to be talked about in terms of what I did, but rather, for what I am doing.”

This should be the theme for the Church.

  10. I need reminders, too, to remember that God is busy EVERY day, in me, and in every conceivable corner of this big world. Thanks, Deb…

  11. Love you, sweet Sis Caddo, and the delightful story you are for Him! God bless you as you love all things His!

  12. I love biographies, that tell how people lived and about their faith and His faithfulness! And hearing what He is doing now in our lives thrills me. .. with westerns coming in second! 🙂 God bless you, Pastor Bill, as you tell the stories of His love and power!

  13. gotcha!

  14. God bless you, Betty!

  15. Great and encouraging comment, Pastor Rob . ..that what is happening today will be the stories of tomorrow. 🙂 God bless you for the part He’s written just for you and you fulfill each day!

  16. God bless you, Mike! Kind of fits in with the serving Him . ..doing our parts theme. 🙂 By His design, no less!

  17. Wendy, you captured what I was feeling and thinking . .thank you! I love looking back at what He’s done . .just don’t want to fall into thinking that He’s done doing great things. God bless you and yours and all that He has planned for you to live and tell about, for His glory!

  18. Amen! Love to stand back and watch GOD do something wonderful!
    God Bless You!

  19. What a beautiful picture of communion, gracious friend! Love it . .and you! God bless you in your TSL, doing your TSJ, being the best TSA ever .. . .what a good God story right there!

  20. I get hit with this every time someone asks me what God is doing in my life . ..or what I’m doing. 🙂 Great quote, Mr. Larry, and thank you for sharing it with us! God bless you and the story He’s writing with you!

  21. Oh yes, Melody, me too! Remembering today that He did just do amazing things way back when . ..He does them everyday! God bless you and what He is doing right now, in and with you!

  22. God bless you, Lady Dei, and all you witness Him doing today! Love those grandkids!

  23. Peggy Noonan, a speech writer for President Reagan, attended a reunion for Reagan in the late 1990’s. A friend asked her, “Peggy, what are you doing?” She replied, “I’m writing.” The friend looked at her with a blank look on his face and said, “What are you really doing?”

Writing is doing something important. So, Deb, keep on writing and encouraging us everyday. We need you..

  24. That was really really helpful, Mr. Larry! I don’t often offer out the “W” word as what I do . ..but will the next time now!

  25. awe God bless you sis

  26. “Tell me the old, old story” is going through my mind right now. Yes, the old, old stories (I prefer the word ‘account’ because ‘story’ often infers fiction) thrill us as we praise God for all He has done and is doing and will continue to do.

Something that really thrills me is running into or hearing about people who were in our childrens/youth ministry years ago, and how they are serving their Lord and creating more accounts of His blessings to be told and retold. It is ALL His work, but what an encouragement it is for us!

We serve an amazing God who continually works through His blood-bought, adopted children to create more and more wonders to be told and retold.

  27. I love that too, dear mentor Angela, when you get to hear the accounts ( good word!) of what those grown children are doing now for His Kingdom. Account built upon account . ..so beautiful! God bless you and yours and all the accounts He gives us through you!

  28. Amen – I love hearing and reading about all that God did in days of old, but I especially thrill to hear of what He’s doing today! Thanks so much for your beautiful poetry Deb, and for making us think of all of the goodness of God.

    Love,
    Cheryl

  29. the photo looks so warm…yes days of old, so often days of gold.

  30. I’m with you, Cheryl .. .I need to hear and read those old accounts, but also be stirred by the now ones! God bless you and yours, as He keeps doing something new in and through you!

  31. Those old days do appear more golden to us. May we yet see His stories unfold and be told today! God bless you and keep you close to His heart, Brook! love and prayers!
