Pure Words

“The words of the LORD are pure words,
Like silver tried
in a furnace of earth,
Purified seven times.”  Psalm 12:6

The pure words of the Lord purify me.

Lord, thank You for the work of Your Word in me.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Your Word

source – priscillanoble.wordpress.com

Your word is trustworthy
and pointedly pure

tried in fiery furnaces
it comes out true and sure

alive and full of the Spirit
standing the test of time

piercing my heart as I read it
always transforming my mind.

  1. Nice one, Sis Deb!–I’m grateful for His Word each day, the Bread of Life. God bless you big–have a Fab Friday (bat-free)–love you, sis Caddo

  2. Great words Deb, as always. God moves us and uses us in so many ways. Praise God for that. 🙂

Just a side note, may I say that it is not the Bible but Christ, who is the Word of God. That is why we use the term “the living Word” because he lives.

I wrote a while back on this too 🙂

    Good day to you.

  3. Reading in Revelation. 2:1-7 this morning. Of all the good that the people of the church of Ephesus was doing, Jesus still had one thing against them. I think it is possible to get our bearing as Christians and lose sight of – and connection to – the source from which our bearing comes and is renewed.

In a way, Jesus is talking about the same passion that we who have been married awhile can lose. We can be hard working. We can endure and persevere through hardships – we can do everything right –
but we can lose the passion.

Even in this . . . we are made in His image. As it is frustrating and disappointing to us when that happens in our marriage, it is equally frustrating and disappointing to Him when we let it happen to us.

I think your post is the key to guarding against it . . . at least with Him. 🙂

  4. very good and also very true!

  5. Sterling, with all of the dross separated out. Beautiful, Deb!

  6. Yes, yes, and yes! Only God’s Word can pierce and transform.
    Blessings ~ Wendy

  7. Ah, the refining process. Going through the flames brings such pain – but the pain teaches us what to let go of. One thing I have had to let go of is my ‘need’ to be comfortable throughout this refining process! Thanks Debbie…

  8. I believe we all can identify with that fiery furnaces…but thanks be to God it’s a learning lesson when we are in that fire so that we can come forth as pure gold. One can’t be golden if they don’t go through the fire…God must strip us of our flesh for the flesh does not know what righteousness is…

  15. That is a hard one to let go of, the need to be comfortable while being refined. Praying that He comforts us while we are uncomfortably worked on! God bless you , Melody! Love how you keep writing and photographing!

  16. Amen, dear Desiray, and God bless you as you keep ready for those lessons and learning moments .. .and help us keep ready too!

  17. The living Word of God and the written Word of God agree that God’s Word is truth; that it renews our minds; that it gives light to our path; that it is a powerful weapon against the enemy, and many other beneficial things for us as we live for Him. Our responsibility (and privilege) is to read, to meditate, to memorise, and to store in our minds and hearts, ready to use against all who oppose, and in doing, we are guaranteed victory.

    What an amazing God!

  18. Thanks Debbie!

  19. All around us, especially in this political season (ugh!), people are selling their words as truth. But only god’s words are pure, tried and refined. Only His word is truth.

  23. The idea of selling our words as truth really stops me , Mr. Larry. Thank you for showing us that . ..and that only His word is truly true. God bless you and yours this weekend!

  24. What would we do without His Word? When I think about my life without His Word, it is an eye-opener that is for sure. It is just as you say…. the only way to defeat sin in our lives is through the power of the Word. Thnk you for a great reminder. Lord bless.
