“Receive, please, instructions from His mouth,
And lay up His words in your heart.” Job 22:22
Sometimes we get a little too eager to instruct for Him and to put our words in His mouth.
Lord, how precious are Your instructions and words when I take the time to wait on You and seek
them.
Laying Up
No one else can speak to me
like You do
and no one else can instruct me
how to live but You
so let me not grow impatient
and heed just anything
but wait eagerly
for the message You will bring.

Oh Sis Deb, you are so good at “gentle preaching”. Yes, I get eager to speak! Praying more for Patience and “Wise Ears” to hear HIM, wait for His nudge. Thank you so much. God bless you extravagantly today–much love, your sis Caddo Delight
Yes! May we have ears to hear what He’s saying to us. And the time to listen to His beautiful voice.
Great words of wisdom.
Love,
Theresa
Debs, you always bless, edify and exhort me. May you continue to hear His voice always! Missed you and love you very much…. Hugs and kisses to you… regards to your loved ones
Debbie I don’t know why but I don’ get notifications for your post anymore 😦
Thank you for this anyways! 🙂
There is much to ponder in your ‘wise ears’ theme, isn’t there? Enjoy a day of truly hearing…. 😀
Debbie you are very right. Many times we speak thinking we know the mind of God when, upon further reflection, we find that we are only speaking OUR mind! Lord bless you.
This is what went through my mind while reading…
And the Spirit has been diligent in His work to convict me of it!
On the other hand, the referenced instruction, taken at face value, is sound. We do need to be listening for His direction 🙂
thank u for these words of comfort
“…Sometimes we get a little too eager to instruct for Him and to put our words in His mouth…”
It’s interesting how the spiritual gifts can bring words to our mouths to edify, encourage, and comfort others. But once we speak our words to people, we then want to help the Holy Spirit make the words work in the people’s lives by constantly reminding and judging the people. Oops! I’ve done this more than once, especially with my poor wife.
Hey, how come I’m not receiving email updates for your blog and all of the others I follow? Have I been blackballed or something?
Debbie I love how your ‘simple poems’ are two-handed. They strike with the force of a ten-tonnne hammer, but hit with a velvet feel. God has given you a special gift that only you, with your ever-so-gentle heart can impart to others. Thank you for being His faithful mouthpiece as He entrusts you with His messages.
Debbie –
There was a time when it didn’t seem to me like God spoke loudly enough to be heard over the din of all that others had to tell me about what He had to say…
Now I realize my problem was listening only for the loud and missing the sweet whispers of grace and hope and guidance that are a steady stream of of love messages from the Lover of my soul.
Thank you, sweet friend!
Gosh, what can I say that hasn’t been said. I love to read your posts Debbie – even though I only get to one of every three or four.
Something we all need to do – LISTEN! Great reminder, Deb.
God Bless You!
Thank you so much for reblogging! God bless you as you seek Him!
I think your eagerness to speak is from your big heart wanting so much to help someone, Sis Caddo! 🙂 So thankful for you! God bless you extravagantly today too! love you!
p.s. it looks funny without a picture up with this!
That is what I want, dear Ali, to make sure I take the time to listen to His beautiful voice. God bless you as you take time today, and then share with us!
God bless you, wonderful woman of the Word, as you receive instruction today! 🙂 Love you and am thinking of you!
Always, always blessed to see you pop in, Ritas! You are such a blessing and a joy! May God whisper something beautiful to you today! love and prayers!!
I’m so sorry about you not getting notifications, beautiful one! I tried checking to see if something was changed . ..but couldn’t really see anything. (like I would know anyway! ha!) I know when I signed up for your new blog, I don’t get emails either, so that’s why I haven’t been back. So Sorry! I think things are going to our “readers” even if we didn’t opt for that.
God bless you and hug you for me!!! lots of love!
Thank you, Melody . . praying to truly hear Him today! God bless you and your wise ears that just keep hearing Him and writing!
Dearest Deb
I do not believe in coincidences. Divine appointments are His delight!
“so let me not grow impatient
and heed just anything
but wait eagerly
for the message You will bring.”
News we expected today has not materialized, but we are encouraged to sit and wait upon Him… It is easy to hear what others have to say, or to run around trying to ‘speak things into being’ when He has not ordained it… We shan’t do that…We will wait, in Jesus name!
Blessing and thanks for another timely word!
Grateful,
ann
Pastor Rob, thank you for how you said that . ..speaking our mind. oops. Guilty! But praying to be careful and just wait a bit before I speak and before I too quickly listen to someone speaking for Him. God bless you!
And Heather . . yes, the instruction IS sound. 🙂 Wanting to be listening for Him, as He speaks to me directly, or through someone else. 🙂 God bless you and your sweet family!
You are so welcome, Terry! God bless you and speak His comfort and peace to you tonight!
Oh Mr. Larry, what you said . . .I can see how that happens, how I’ve done that too. Thank you so much for how you share with us. It helps tremendously!
I don’t know what is up with the email updates. I have missed a few too . .. do you think we are all getting put into the “reader” or something? Or just a glitch? hmmm. I looked, but couldn’t see anything that I could notice different!
God bless you as you keep speaking when He asks you to!!!
Thank you, Mentor Angela, for helping me along here and always teaching me, always taking the time to impart an experience, a timely word . .HIS WORDS. God bless you and all that He shares with you, and you with us! love and prayers! Is your hubby doing okay right now?
Oh gracious one . . I REALLY loved your comment . .and your heart and YOU. You are so right, that is what I did too, just listened to the loudest most obvious voices. He had to remove me from all of that in order for me to just hear Him. 🙂 God bless you and all the sweet messages He brings to you! love and prayers and top secret codes!
I post too often. 🙂 God bless you, Tammy, as His instructions fill your heart!
I love how you can listen with a camera, Lady Dei! 🙂 God bless you too, and your family!
I’m so blessed and thankful Ann full of grace and song, as you share about your situation . .. about what it looks like when you are waiting and so want to hear, that what others have to say sounds inviting. Or we want to go ahead and speak for Him. This is sooo good, Ann. It brings it to life for me. Thank you!!! And God bless you as you “wait upon the Lord and He reigns forever” in your life.love and prayers!
Myles is coping Deb. We went to cardiologist yesterday. One medicine has been doubled and another one added. He wants another angiogram after being on the new medication for a few weeks. That should tell us how things are going.
Thanks for asking.
Thank you for sharing about what is going on . .. praying now for good results from the changes. love you!
Hugs!!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂
