“Like a servant who earnestly desires the shade,
And like a hired man who eagerly looks for his wages,
So I have been allotted months of futility
And wearisome nights have been appointed to me.” Job 7:2-3
We all need a little shade during the heat of the day.
Lord, help me to pray, providing shade for someone today. And here’s a simple poem . . .
the droughted grass
from the searing sun
and all around
each tree’s base
lies a circular rung
to the edge
of the branches’ reach
sent up and out
to cover and to keep.
