“And the people blessed all the men who willingly offered themselves to dwell at Jerusalem.” Nehemiah 11:2
I am blessed by those who leave their homes and lands behind in service to God.
Lord, we desire to encourage those today who willingly offer themselves. And here’s a simple poem . . .
Blessed
Some give up
all they have
to go and do
what must be done
a blessing and
sweet perfume
to us of
God’s own Son.
I love saying this poem out loud… the rhythm and rhyme, and adore the lyrical beauty of this:
a blessing and
sweet perfume
to us of
God’s own Son.
It reminds me of this bible verse
“How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!” Isaiah 52:7
Love,
Theresa
What a really beautifully kind comment, wonderful woman of the Word. Thank you for the Isaiah verse and for reminding us of how beautiful His Word is . . .how beautiful HE is! God bless you and all you see Him in today! love and prayers!
There is nothing more encouraging than seeing someone who is a willing servant of the Lord. Your willingness to give of your time and effort to CONSISTENTLY post in your blog is a blessing to me.
amen Debbie it takes willing heart to obey God..
Indeed, we should all be willing to give up all each day. Even when it is just at home.
Lord, help me to hold nothing back.
You’re so right, Pastor Rob . ..It is so encouraging and exciting, and we want to do likewise! 🙂 God bless you as you continuously give us His Word and truth to think of!!
Love that, dear Desiray! A willing heart . . .praying for that today! God bless you!
“Lord, help me to hold nothing back”. Praying that one too, Ted. Thank you and God bless you as you keep being willing for Him!
Amen, Sis–
love and hugs and prayers , Sis Caddo Delight, as you give up everything for the joy of knowing Him! You are precious and a blessing!
I agree with Theresa. It’s lovely to say aloud.
On reading this I thought of a number of people who fill the bill. Then I thought again, and I concluded that those we see as having “given up all they have to go and do what must be done” would be the first ones to loudly declare that they have not given up anything for which they have not been repaid bountifully by our gracious God.
No one can or will ever out-give God. He always uses a bigger shovel.
What an amazing God!
What a beautiful point, Mentor Angela. They are rich in wonder and awe and stories of faith and God moving in their lives and others. 🙂 God bless you as He shovels more love and revelations your way!
God bless you, Tammy. Lovely of you to say so! 🙂
Thanks Deb! My sister is on the field and many of my friends. Soon I imagine my children will be leaving. I am learning to pray like never before. This poem really touched me! Please pray protection for my Sis in Holland and for my son in Myanmar!
You know of these things first hand, Pastor J, and that sure does fuel prayers. Praying with you for your dear ones, who are close to His heart and yours! God bless you!
