Taking Back The Captives

“Now these are the people of the province who came back from the captivity, of those who had been carried away, whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, had carried away to Babylon.”  Ezra 2:1

Captivity is all some have ever known.

Lord, we praise You for You have come to set the captives free.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Carried Back

Celia being held captive by Aub

Taken away
to a foreign land

lives placed under
the enemy’s command

we cry out
for them to return again

to the Love they were made for
deep in the heart of Him.

  1. “Captivity is all some have ever known.”

When I think of the years my thoughts were in captivity to the wiles of the devil, what a joy to now have them in captivity to the obedience of Christ 2 Corinthians 10:5. God’s blessings … praying for all of us.

  2. What a blessing to be given freedom so that we might serve our Lord and Savior. We should look at our service to Him as a great privilege knowing that we all will be blessed eternally for our faithfulness now.

  3. “…lives placed under
    the enemy’s command…”

We live all of our physical lives behind enemy lines in a world ruled by the god of this world. It’s easy to forget this because we live in America and there’s no Gestapo hunting us down each day. But the truth is still the truth.

Those of us who are Christians have an alternative: the kingdom of God which is within us. We can learn how to live in the Father’s love and be His ambassador to the lost world around us.

    Good job…once again.

  4. They had a mindset of being in captivity and often the people complained to moses why did you bring us out here to die knowing that when they was with Pharaoh they eat but what they neglected to see is their blessing to a whole new land..And aren’t we like that at times God brings us from one place to another and we soon forget and want to go back to what God delivered us from..

  5. God bless you, Dearest Delightful Deb

This is beautiful!Thank you for sharing.

Praying I will truly “stand firm” in the freedom He has brought. We can see that your darling Aub has the cat, but sometimes the things that attempt to ensnare me are hidden from my eyes. So thankful the Great Deliverer is on my side!

    Blessings,
    ann

  6. Oh sweet Sis–I’ve added this to my “Faves” file! So painfully true, and moves me to new fervency in prayer. Thank you for always writing His Love and Truth in simple words for us. God bless you and little Aubie today–all day long, as I lift you up to Him. Much love, sis Caddo

  7. ‘captivity’ . . . ‘freedom’
That is the picture that should be foremost in the thoughts of every believer in Christ.

I was a captive – captive to sin, captive to the ways of the world, captive to being ensnared with everything evil, captive to my own tangled thoughts and desires, captive to the results of my early life, captive, captive, captive . . .

“But God” – But God, who is rich in mercy, grace and love, stepped into my world, revealed Himself to me and revealed the Lord Jesus as my Saviour, and gave me faith to believe . . .

“Freedom!” Oh what freedom, as all the chains of bondage fell off!

    What an amazing God!

  8. I love how you showed the other side of captivity . .. the joyful side of being His! God bless you as you pray for the captives to be set free!

  9. What a blessing it is , to serve Him with our freedom! 🙂 God bless you, Pastor Rob as you choose to be faithful to Him each day!

  10. Thank you for the way you explain captivity, Mr. Larry! Praying to be the ambassador He desires me to be for those around me. God bless you . .. good comment . . once again! 🙂

  11. You’re right, dear Desiray . . .sometimes the familiarity of what held us captive lures us to return to it. The known vs. the unknown. Praying that we know Him more and more and trust that what He has for us is so much better than what we had in captivity.
God bless you as you take His gospel of freedom to others today!

  12. How right you are, sweet Ann full of grace and song! I don’t always see what’s trying to snare me either. Sneaky. But our Deliver is greater. 🙂
God bless you as you praise Him for setting you free! Thank you for the song!! 🙂

  13. God bless you, sweet Sis Caddo Delight, as you pray for those still held captive. It is sad and I know you know that first hand. I am praying with you too. Love you and thank you for your ever prayers for us, for powering us through our days! God bless you muchly!

  14. I love how you showed us the difference between captivity and freedom in Jesus, Mentor Angela! It makes me want to dance and sing! Praying someone reads your comment and recognizes themselves . .. and turns to the One who can set them free.
God bless you as He changes everything! love and prayers!

  15. Praising God! Been set free through my Lord, Jesus Christ!
    Great Post, Deb!
    God Bless You!

  16. Singing and rejoicing with you, Lady D! God bless you too, and your sweet ones! And your sense of humor! 🙂

  17. “lives placed under
the enemy’s command” – yes, this is/was so many of us. I’m grateful beyond words for the One who redeems, rescues, sets free from the darkness. May we truly have a heart for those in bondage, that they might know the same love and peace.

  18. Thank you for the way you put that, Ali. I don’t want to forget what it was like . . .so that my heart will stay soft towards those in bondage yet. God bless you mightily! 🙂
