Abounding More and More

“Finally then brethren, we urge and exhort in the Lord Jesus that you should abound more and more, just as you received from us how you ought to walk and to please God .. .”  1 Thessalonians 4:1

To abound more and more sounds wonderful.

Lord, we thank You and praise You that we can never come to the end of You.  There is always more.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

An Abounding Walk

Aub’s pine tree that almost died, but is starting to abound more and more!

Oh to abound
more and more and more

in the work of You
our Holy, Holy Lord

to walk in such a way
that we please You everyday

this is what we pray
oh Holy, Holy Lord.

  1. Oh, this is SO Wonderful, Sis Deb!! I love the idea that we never run out of Jesus–don’t even have to run up to the store! He’s right there–more and more and more. And I’m so delighted to hear that Aubie’s pine tree is being miraculously healed–wow, what a testimony!! God bless you both, BIG–so much love to you, sis Caddo

  2. Yes, sweet Sis – I too pray to abound more and more – to be teeming with His love and grace.
I feel a lot like Aub’s tree. I was almost dead and then God, in His great grace, created new life.
Love and prayers to you as you continue to supply us with glimpses of His glory,

  3. Beautifully put together Deb.
Sometimes, it is easy to get discouraged with ourselves in a spiritual sense. We are disappointed because we didn’t do what we should have done, or we did what we shouldn’t have done, or we . . . . .

But then, if we take time to look back, we can see that we are stronger today than we were last month, last year, last decade – because God has abounded more and more! Only He could do it and we KNOW that He will continue His work, making us abound even more abundantly.

I like the way you put it better – so simply and so beautifully.

Whichever way we say it, we praise Him because He deals with us bountifully!

    What an amazing God!

  4. nice

  5. Like Aub’s tree, we all need water and light each day to grow in Him. Plus, a little pruning from time to time removes dead branches.

May you abound today in all things.

  6. Hi Debbie, yes and Amen! Thank God for the growth in us through our loving Saviour. Oh to abound more and more so that we can rest in Him,without all of the stupid fear and doubt! I long to get there as I’m sure we all want that resting place in Him.
Love you much and “Happy Monday”! 😀 😀

  7. It’s thee overflow in which God gives us..amen

  8. Debbie, It is a wonderful thing to realize that the Lord loves us, cares for us and is consistently working in our lives to “grow us up” and help us to have a closer walk with Him. What a blessing it is to know that even though we are not where we want to be, we are certainly closer to Him than before! Lord bless.

  9. I love that He abounds for us and in us too, Sis Caddo Delight . ..first pew gal! 🙂 I am not sure if I should cut off the brown part of Aub’s tree yet or not. Some of the brown branches are starting to sprout green! God bless you as you abound in His love and joy today! love you bunches!

  10. I love that word, gracious FF – teeming with His love and grace! Me too, me too! I knew there was something special about that little tree . ..it reflects His grace for creating new life, even when something looks half dead. 🙂 God bless you and love on you abundantly today . .more and more and more! love and prayers!

  11. Oh yes, Mentor Angela . ..I do do that, get discouraged at my walk at times. I joke and call it a crawl instead of walk. haha! But oh how gracious He is and has been with me, abounding more and more in my life. Makes me cry.
God bless you and the abounding life He gives you as you keep loving Him more and more and more! Love you, sweet lady!

  12. Thanks Z and God bless you as you abound in Him today!

  13. God bless you, Mr. Larry, as you go for more and more of Him. Thank you for your prayers!

  14. Oh that is so good and true, precious Pat!! We do rest without all the fear and doubt, as we grow and abound in Him. Thank you for sharing that with us! 🙂 God bless you more and more! love and prayers for your Monday! You are such a blessing!

  15. Wonderful insight and way to describe it, dear Desiray! God bless you as you overflow with Him today!

  16. I remember a dear woman who rather sadly told me that there is always more to learn, more growing to be done, more to gain. But, I love that there is more and no end to our abounding. 🙂
God bless you as you keep growing closer and closer to Him! Thank you for your special teaching ministry!

  17. It’s amazing, but your right, there’s always more of God! I hope the little tree rebounds fully! Great post!
    God Bless you & yours!

  18. We had promised that little tree to someone, but this happened before we could deliver it. I didn’t want to give her a half brown, half green tree! haha! Hoping with you in the full rebound. God bless you greatly, Lady D!

  19. Maybe just a little tiny trim? (Suggestion from a non-gardener, so take it with a grain of rice, er salt, er sand–whatever.) Love you!!

  20. That is a great poem to pray! Thank you for sharing it.

  21. God bless you, wonderful woman of the Word, as you pray and love Him today! love you and am thinking of you!

  22. hahahaha! You make me laugh . . I’ll take it with a grain of that . .laughter! 🙂

  23. To abound in Him to be more like Him!

  24. Oh great insight, Pastor J! I missed you and your words of wisdom and encouragement here! God bless you as you abound with Him today!
