Stirred Up

“Now in the first year of Cyrus King of Persia, that the word of the LORD spoken by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus King of Persia, so that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and also put it in writing, saying, ‘Thus says Cyrus king of Persia:  All the kingdoms of the earth the LORD God of heaven has given me.  And He has commanded me to build Him a house at Jerusalem which is in Judah.  Who is there  among you of all His people?  May the LORD his God be with him, and let him go up!’ ”  2 Chronicles 36:22-23

God will move in the ways He chooses to fulfill His word.

Lord, please stir me up today.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Going Up

I see you there
among My people
and I am with you
as you go

stirred up
by My Spirit
proclaiming My name
so all may know.

  1. Dearest Deb –
We had a bit of a mad cyclone here tonight – winds that blew the giant metal signs over and carried ours away completely – it’s just gone. The lights all came crashing down. We were pelted with hail and then rain… and now, a few hours later, it’s as if nothing at all happened.
My prayer is to be stirred up but never to be as if nothing at all happened!
much love to you and our Aub,
    Debbie

  2. I am so thankful for this post. I read the poem to myself a few times. Something about it reminded me of a hymn that was based on a passage in Isaiah.

There are times when my love for those ones who are so dear to me who also who have gone astray causes my heart to break. At those times it is tempting to stay away from the Bible, because I am afraid of bumping into to verses that will remind me of the state of mind that those precious loved ones are in and it makes me a little afraid and very sad. Yet He continually draws me using various means…I can’t help but draw near the Lord anyway.

Last night I battled that conflict, and the Lord had His way, and comforted me as a result. He stirred up feelings that I just couldn’t put into words…………..but you did, and the Lord blessed me now through them…tears falling as I type.

    Love,
    Theresa

  3. Thanks Deb, great to know He stirs our spirits and I pray we act on our stirrings. Blessings and stirring!

  4. What a blessing it is to know that He will always keep His Word! Thanks for the reminder, Deb. Lord bless.

  5. Oh this is wonderful, Sis Deb–I’m thinking that sometimes I get “all stirred up” about the wrong and silliest things–And how it’s nothing at all like how I feel when I’m stirred up by God’s Holy Spirit. I pray that I will listen and “settle down”, in the first–and listen and “stay stirred” in the second, which is so filled with His glory and power. Thank you, faithful Lord!! God bless you and everyone in church today–love, sis Caddo

  6. Just think, Cyrus – like Nebuchadnezzar – was a bloody tyrant. Yet, God was able to stir both of them up and use them for His kingdom’s sake. It makes me wonder why I’m so apathetic at times.

    Great poem.

  7. Great Deb.
This morning, as I read a blog by an agnostic, asking if there really IS a God, I was “stirred up by His Spirit” and “proclaimed His Name” as He gave me the words. It was an awesome experience, and I pray the author of the blog and the many commenters will hear HIS voice, not mine, as they read and know that there is indeed a God who is alive and active and is the answer to all their needs.

    What an amazing God!

  8. Oh no gracious FF! Is this from Debby? So thankful you are okay and praying with you to be stirred up and stay that way, for Him!

  13. Thank you, Mr. Larry, for pointing that out. If they can be stirred, so can we. I’m volunteering! 🙂 God bless you as He sends you up and out.

  14. Wow, Mentor Angela . .. what an opportunity that was and my how He used you in it! May your example be used to stir us up as well! As I read your comment, the words of a song are playing in my head . .”God’s not dead, He’s surely alive, He’s living on the inside, roaring like a lion . .. ”
God bless you as you go and witness of Him today! love and prayers!
