“For a multitude of the people, many from Ephraim, Manasseh, Issachar, and Zebulun, had not cleansed themselves, yet they ate the Passover contrary to what was written. But Hezekiah prayed for them, saying, ‘May the good LORD provide atonement for everyone
who prepares his heart to seek God, the LORD God of his fathers, though he is not cleansed according to the purification of the sanctuary.” 2 Chronicles 30:18-19
Indeed, God did provide atonement for everyone . . . through Jesus.
Thank You Lord, for cleansing us so we can come to You forever. And here’s a simple poem . . .
Purification
I love You, Lord Jesus
please take away my sins
I long to be with You
purified of them
only You can atone for me
cleanse me and set me free
I love You, Lord Jesus
heal my iniquity.
Beautiful, Sis Deb! Such a deep and simple heart-prayer, to be healed of my iniquity–and to confidently KNOW He is willing and glad to do so! Thank you, Lord Jesus. God bless you, my Sis–love, sis Caddo
Love you, first pew Sis! So thankful with you to know that we are forgiven and loved, cleansed and set free! You are such a blessing to me! God bless you and keep you always!
Just beautiful. Thank you again for bringing His heart to us. So thankful his blood covers everything – all our sin and shame – past, present and future.
Debbie,
I have always loved the word atonement. It is only used once in the NT in Roms 5:11.
The Greek word translated atonement in this verse has the idea of a mutual exchange between two parties. What a great thought!
Our Lord willingly died on the cross so that He might give us His righteousness. We, in turn, through repentance and belief, gave Him our sins! What a wonderful exchange …. our sins for His righteousness!
What an uplifting posting! Lord bless you.
I’ve just noticed the different times people comment on your site. Interesting…I’ve never paid attention to those facts before.
And yes, thank God that Jesus has already atoned for my sins, past and future.
Great post, Deb. I need to ask for forgiveness constantly!
God Bless You!
very good blog!
Beautiful Deb!
Atonement / at-one-ment. I always associate atonement with the great exchange made, as found in 2 Cor 5:21 where Christ TOOK my sins and GAVE me His own righteousness – giving me at-one-ment with my great God.
What a truly amazing exchange!
What a truly amazing God!
God bless you, beautiful Ali . . I love the way He covers us, and everything pertaining to us!
Thank you Pastor Rob, for such a great comment, that shows us about atonement and how in this verse it means an exchange. I loved that! I think there was a song out, The Great Exchange”. 🙂 God bless you and keep you today!
Well, the times are a little deceiving. I know that Sis Caddo and I were commenting in the wee hours of the morn. Yet it shows us at 7 and 8 am. 🙂
God bless you and the atonement you received!
I do too, sweet Lady D! God bless you as He clothes you in His righteousness!
God bless you, Angel Terry! Praying you are having a good day, assured of His love and forgiveness.
Oh, Mentor Angela! I loved this so much . . “at-one-ment” . .I will not forget that now and am thanking Him for His atonement today! God bless you as you praise your amazing God! love and prayers!
You were writing a comment to her at 3 AM (CDT) and it was 1 AM (PDT) for her. You certainly have a different schedule than the rest of us.
Oh boy, do I ever! 🙂 I have to keep Aub’s schedule . . since I’m her caregiver. And so that’s the way it is!
Angela and I were thinking along the same lines; “at-one-ment.” My heart became overwhelmed as I thought about the Ministry of reconciliation wrought in my life, because of the atoning blood of Jesus Christ! So undeserved! Thank you Jesus! Also, your post could have been placed in a comment box in this week’s Worship Session, and the same could be said about the Worship Session post, here. 🙂 Our God is great, and greatly to be praised! Love and prayers!
Paulette
