Returning

“Then the men who were designated by name rose up and took the captives, and from the spoil they clothed all who were naked among them, dressed them and gave them sandals, gave them food and drink, and anointed them; and they let all the feeble ones ride on donkeys.  So they brought them to their brethren at Jericho, the city of palm trees.  Then they returned to Samaria.”  2 Chronicles 28:15

I once was held captive by sin, ransacked and naked, starving and bereft of hope.

Lord, thank You for saving me, restoring me and returning me to the place I belong . . with You.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Brought Back

Love clothes me
and feeds me
and fills up
my flaws.
Love anoints me
and establishes me
in the presence
of all.

  1. Dearest Deb –
Restored, clothed, fed, held – loved unconditionally with a love that “fills up my flaws”. Beautiful, sweet friend.

  5. Amen! Indeed what Love our Saviour has for us,he gave his all just for us,what Love indeed! Wonderfully done Debbie.
    Love you much 😀

  6. “…Love anoints me…”

There used to be a lot of teachings on the anointing, which if you check all the scriptures out is the presence of the Holy Spirit. So, although this phrase seems poetic, it is in fact absolutely true.

    Fancy sandals.

  7. Your poetry is a joy and a blessing as always. This poem says to me that Jesus alone set us in right standings. All to be clothed in God’s everlasting love.

    Have a lovely day.

  8. Deb, this scripture and poem are so close to my heart and just exactly how God is! He binds up the broken hearted and heals and always makes a way of deliverance. I love this so much!
Pray for me as I will be traveling 1,000 miles this next few days to pick up my daughter who is coming in from Africa with her three adopted kiddies…. one month of sharing time together before she heads back to complete the adoption process for the last two of them.

  9. I love this SO SO Much, Sis Deb! (and I love the sandals too!) It made me sigh with relieved contentment in Him. And I also really liked what Larry said about the anointing of the Holy Spirit! God bless you BIG today–love to you, sis Caddo

  10. God bless you, Rob, and that special place you are at with Him!

  13. God bless you , Larry, and thank you for always bringing some insight. Many times I write something and find myself asking Him, can I really say that? 🙂 Thanks for the confirmation on this one.
p.s. one sandal is wet, one is dry. The “photographer” is rather slip-shod. 🙂

  14. I love that so much, Tahlitha . . .that it speaks to you of Jesus setting us in right standings. 🙂 God bless you and the way you show and share His love!

  15. Faith filled fisherlady . . I am so blessed that this was close to your heart too! There was just something so precious about that scripture to me.

  16. I love your heart that is content and safe in His love and all that it does! Yes, what would we do without Larry?! 🙂 God bless you, sis Caddo Delight, clothed in His love and grace!
p.s. giggling about those sandals. . .they’ve seen there better days, but hey . ..they are serving their purpose yet, and then some here!

  17. Debbie, this is an essential in your collection of poems because it speaks of love in a way that is accessible by all, even those who don’t know God or who are isolated and feeling unloved. The purest sense I have of Jesus is in his unconditional love, and you have personified that here. Thanks so much! Love, Amy

  18. God bless you, dear Amy! Thank you for sharing about His unconditional love . . .that pure Jesus love. 🙂 love and prayers as He keeps you covered today!

  19. It seems I’ve been down memory lane a few times today, and now as I’m caused to remember my hopeless, helpless state ‘before Christ’ and what a difference HE made, I’m praising my God for His amazing, amazing love, mercy and grace, and all He has done for me.

Thank you Deb, and praises to my Saviour.

  20. It is good to look back and see all He has done for us, isn’t it? And humbling for me too . ..and I need that! I don’t want to forget entirely what that time was like . .. so He can keep me praying and reaching out with Him to those being held captive today. God bless you, sweet Mentor Angela, as you praise Him always!
