“Jehoram was thirty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.” 2 Chronicles 21:5
“And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, just as the house of Ahab had done, for he had the daughter of Ahab as a wife; and he did evil in the sight of the LORD.” 2 Chronicles 21:6
I wonder if this is the result of Jehoshaphat, Jehoram’s father, allying himself with Ahab.
Lord, I thank you for those precious people You lined me up with years ago, that continue to be a blessing to me and my family. And here’s a simple poem . . .
Godly Allies
Newly washed
in His blood
God sent those
who greatly loved
confirming Him
in my life
blessing my children
with the gift of Christ.
Thank you, dear Ruth, if you are reading! You are one
the precious Godly allies He sent my family and I! Love you!
I’m so thankful you had those early allies, too, Sis Deb–just as I’m thankful for the ones in my life. God is so faithful to us, beginning to end! God bless you my dear little Sis–have a joyful weekend! love, your old sis Caddo Delight
You’ve brought out a very interesting point that makes alot of sense. In my mind, due to the influence of His father, and His wife, Jehoram followed Ahab footsteps. Lord bless you. Have a great weekend
“…I wonder if this is the result of Jehoshaphat, Jehoram’s father, allying himself with Ahab…”
Many times, when kings became allies of nations, sons married into the families to bind the alliances. So, most likely, Jehoram’s marriage was arranged by Jehoshaphat.
And thank God for the believers the Lord sent into my life.
very good blog!!
Blessing to you my dear debbie and again thanks for such a lovely comment you left on my page
Deb, What a beautiful tribute to your Godly allies! I love this poem. Peace, Linda
I love that Sis Caddo, how He is faithful to us from beginning to end. 🙂 and I’m so thankful for all the new allies He’s loading me up with too!!! God bless you and fill your day with joy! love and prayers!
It always makes me sad going through the books of Kings and the Chronicles, when one king will have done good in the sight of the Lord and then his son or the next king does evil. 😦 God bless you, Pastor Rob, as you keep steering us to Jesus!
That makes sense, Larry, and it’s what caused me to look at who my “allies” were and how they had affected my life and the life of my kids! God bless you and all those He sends to strengthen and sharpen you!
God bless you, angel Terry, and send you Godly helpers!
God bless you too, dear Desiray, and send you many Godly allies as you take to the park each week! You shine!
Love you, Linda, and am thankful to have met you and to have you as a Godly blogging ally! God bless you and your family!
That is such a beautiful poem. It takes me back to some precious allies the Lord placed in my life who later went home to be with the Lord back in the 90’s. I think of them whenever I read these verses:
“1Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, 2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:1-2
I’m so glad that you had those saints in your life Theresa! And now, He is using you in other people’s lives, to encourage, comfort, and build them up in Him! God bless you and your dear family! love you!
Beautiful, Deb! Precious!
God Bless You!
God bless you and yours too, Lady D! You are a for sure good godly ally! 🙂
So many times in my life, my amazing all-knowing God has placed the right person at the right time in His ever-loving care.
What an amazing God!
He is so good at doing that! I need all the help I can get! God bless you as He places YOU in peoples lives! love and prayers, dear mentor Angela!
This is such a great post Deb. It is wonderful to think of how we have been blessed by godly allies, also sobering though to think of what ‘alliances’ and legacies we are leaving for our own families.
I just love how you work your way through a book, sharing your insights and reflections – such a testimony of how all of God’s Word is living. Bless you sweet Deb – when I think of your blog I think of an oasis of refreshing 🙂 xx
Beautiful. How precious (and rare!) are godly allies who bless our lives and family 🙂
God bless you, sweet Aimee and refresh you daily!!! Okay . . hourly! 🙂 It is sobering to think about how some of our “alliances” have not been healthy for our families. God is so good to guide us and send us those we need in our lives, at just the right times too! Praying for you those kind of people, who support you and your family, who pray for you and infuse your lives with more of Him! love for you and this next time of change!
Dear Ali . . .you saying how precious and rare godly allies are made me realized how much more I need to thank Him for mine! And also to be one myself! God bless you and your family!
That’s awesome – and I’m sure you already are. God bless.
lovely post and so true. It is so important to circle our loved ones with those beloved in the faith… kind and true people that will be pillars for our children!
I’m so thankful that God helps us with that, to circle our loved ones with people filled with hope and life! We often think about all the bad influences . ..and they are certainly out there! But how wonderful to think of all the good influences God brings through His lovely people too! God bless you, faith filled fisherlady, and your family that keeps on blessing!
