Of Multitudes

“Then some came and told Jehoshaphat, saying, ‘A great multitude is coming against you from beyond the sea, from Syria; and they are in Hazazon Tamar (which is En Gedi)’. ” 2 Chronicles 20:2

“And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the LORD, and proclaim a fast throughout all Judah.”Β  2 Chronicles 20:3

A multitude of things can go wrong in a day.

Lord, we thank You that we don’t have to be afraid of whatever comes against us.Β  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Salvation Coming

They did not know what
the multitudes would do
but they knew
what God had done

they could not control
Ammon’s hand
but could be held
in the Holy One’s

as they gathered to seek Him
to fast, to pray
to humbly worship
they heard Him say

do not fear
or be dismayed
but stand still and watch
your Salvation come today.

  1. You are so right… everyone one of us has “one of those days” from time to time. How wonderful it is to know that our Lord:
    1. is in control of these events
    2. is with us through these events
    3. has opened up a great opportunity to glorify Him as we handle these events.

Lord bless you . Have a great weekend.

  2. great! you have such a talent with words

  3. I LOVE it…” they knew what God had done”….and promised to them and us! We do not know what is coming yet we know God and what He has done. May we pray and fast to Him and place all of our fear there. This is soooo powerful. Thanks, Deb!

  4. This reminded me of Don Francisco’s song: “Jehoshaphat.”

For those of you youngsters who have never heard of Don Francisco, he was popular way back in the 1980’s. His most famous song was, “He’s Alive,” but his song about Jehoshaphat was really good. If you have time, check him out on Youtube.

Great post and thanks for taking me down memory lane. Hopefully, I’ll find my way back soon.

  5. Oh Sis Deb –this is a great poem that says so much!! Wonderfully affirming about the things we don’t “have to know” vs. the ONE we Do know and can/should utterly depend on every minute of everyday. Yay, Jesus!–our Salvation and the Hands that hold us close!!! God bless your Friday, and Saturday and Sunday too! love, sis Caddo

  6. “Hallelujah”! Amen! Some of my favorite scriptures 2 Chronicles 20 Jehoshaphat feared and set himself, this book is filled to the brim.First came fear, then seeking and then the answer, stand still, hold your position and trust in God. God will always come through for us too. It matters not how big or strong the enemy is,God is greater, and he’s greater in us! Just another powerful post Debbie and I truly enjoyed the read.
    Love you πŸ˜€

  7. Thanks for sharing, Deb

    Great post and great comments.

    “they could not control
    Ammon’s hand
    but could be held in
    in the Holy One’s”

    I like this mucho πŸ™‚

I can’t control what others are planning against me, but I can crawl into His great big hands and stay there. πŸ˜‰

  20. “They did not know” . . . “they could not control”

*I* do not know and cannot control . . . BUT GOD! (my favourite words again) . . .

BUT GOD! God knows, God is able, God is concerned, God DESIRES to undertake for us . . . and He does as soon as we let go and let Him!

    What an amazing God!

  21. Thank you so much for sharing this. πŸ™‚
