God With Us

“Now look, God Himself is with us as our head, and His priests with sounding trumpets to sound the alarm against you. O Children of Israel, do not fight against the LORD God of your fathers, for you shall not prosper.”  2 Chronicles 13:12

Abijah was outnumbered 2 to 1 when he spoke this to Jeroboam.

Lord, we thank You for being with us as our head and always over us.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Prospered

Oh how You prosper us
in Your power, in Your love

turtle doves

always with us
over and above

all that comes against
to discourage and destroy

but flees as we shout
Your name with joy.

  1. Oh YES! I love that He comes against all that would harm (stress out) His precious children–us–and that all we need do is shout His Name in Joy. Quick, He comes to the rescue!–and the powers of darkness surely flee! Thanking Him tonight, and praying His blessed covering over you and your angel–through the night, and into your work day. Love you much, your sis Caddo

  2. I will hide under the shelter of His wings… and always look to Him, the Author and Finisher of our Faith…
    Love your simple poems Deb!

  3. “Lord, we thank You for being with us as our head…..”

And because we obedient ones have the Lord as our head, Debbie, we can lay claim to this promise in Deuteronomy 28:13 for ourselves, individually and corporately.

What could God do with a group like that in every city? I pray one day we get to testify. Thanks.

  4. What a blessing and a privilege it is to know, that our God is omnipresent, ever present with us. A great reminder for when I feel so alone, and isolated from the world. Thanks, Encouraging Debbie! Love and prayers!

  5. amazing sis..God bless you

  6. What would we do without His consistent presence and grace in our lives? ONe of His greatest blessings to us is His continual intervention in our lives. Lord bless you for posting this wonderful truth!

  7. King Abijah (2 Chron. 13; 1 Kings 15) was a lot like most of us in that he was not a wholehearted follower of God. He walked in the same sins that the kings before him committed. Yet, in this instance, with his back against the wall and outnumbered 2 to 1, he threw himself on the mercy seat of God and trusted in Him. And God rescued him.

    “…always with us
    over and above…”

What a great and awesome God we serve.
