A Thousand Burnt Offerings

“And Solomon went up there to the bronze altar before the LORD, which was at the tabernacle of meeting, and offered a thousand burnt offerings on it.”  2 Chronicles 1:6

Before Solomon ever asked for or received wisdom and knowledge and became the wealthiest of kings, he offered God a thousand burnt offerings.

Oh Lord, may we worship You extravagantly today, right in the place where we are.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Worship Through and Through

You give me new life
and cause me not to fear

bringing peace and assurance
that You  are very near

my heart wants to beat with
only worship through and through

thousands upon thousands of
“Oh how I love you’s”.

  1. I LOVE this, and so must God each time we say or write “I love YOU’s” to Him–in our little kid voices, with our little kid crayons (with whatever talent He’s given us). Wonderful word, Sis! God bless your Thursday a whole bunch!! love, sis Caddo

  2. You are so sweet, Sis Caddo Delight! You bless me so much with your ever present love and encouragement. I’m so glad that He accepts whatever we have and bring to Him, even those little things and all of our “I love you’s”. God bless your Thursday too, and surround you with His love notes to you! love and prayers and thanks!

  3. ….Oh Lord, may we worship You extravagantly today, right in the place where we are

I love that, Debbie … right in the place where WE are, not where somebody else is or expects us to be – spiritually, mentally or physically. God bless you. Your work is a blessing to many.

  4. thousands upon thousands of
    “Oh how I love you’s”
I’m going to bed with that on my lips today, dear Deb – that and Thursday prayers,

  5. Debbie,

What a blessing it is to follow the example of Solomon and submit to the Lord’s will and honor HIm with our lives before we ask Him for greater blessings and abilities! If we are not willing to serve HIm as we are why should we expect Him to give us more blessings?

Great posting! Lord bless. Keep on keeping on!

  6. Sister Debbie we are on the same page with this I started re-reading the book of Levititcus and it talks allot about the burnt offerings and so what I am doing is asking God to show me what it means to us today. One of the things He showed me was when the people did not listen to God and they turned their back on Him He would tell them that they had to bring an animal for the sacrifice of their sins. When you read it don’t you see how precise God is in even a sacrifice?

  7. Dearest Delightful Deb,

    My heart responds ….

Thank you so much for sharing.

Lately I’ve been sensing Him calling me to deeper worship. I found it hard to explain what I felt in words, so I’m borrowing yours today.”

“my heart wants to beat with
    only worship through and through”
Yes Lord! This is what I want, to the glory of Your great name.

  8. “…And Solomon went up there to the bronze altar before the LORD…”

For me, Solomon is one of the saddest people we can study in the Bible. He zealously started out and the Lord blessed him with wealth, wisdom, and long life. He completed the temple and then like many of us who are raised up by the Lord, his eyes turned to other things. These other things ended up being the reason God split Israel into Judah and Israel.

If only, he would have stayed with his first love and offered “thousands upon thousands of “Oh how I love you’s”.

  9. that was so beautiful. i loved it Deb

  10. “O for a thousand tongues to sing
    My great Redeemer’s praise”

It is such a long time since I’ve sung that wonderful Charles Wesley hymn!

“He breaks the power of cancelled sin,
    He sets the prisoner free.
    His blood can make the foulest clean;
    His blood avails for me.”

This song and “O how I love Jesus” will be running through my head all day.

    Thank you Deb.

    What an amazing, amazing God!

  11. Extravagant worship. What a beautiful thing! Oh, that I might lavishly pour my heart out to Him like you do, Deb!

  12. Roger, God bless you for seeing that and seeing something important in it, that we worship where we are. I’m glad we don’t have to wait!

  13. You are so wonderful, gracious one. Thank you for your Thursday prayers! They powered us through again! Yay Jesus!
God bless you and give you rest in His great love!
    love and prayers

  14. Great point, Rob! I often think of this in terms of why should He speak to me, if I’m not doing what He already told me to do? God bless you as you help us think of Him!

  15. Yes, Desiray, that is so good! He is into details and it helps me pay attention more to what is going on, knowing that! God bless you as you love and worship Him today!

  16. Oh Ann full of Jesus grace and song! Thank you for continuing Paulette’s Wednesday Worship over here! Praying with you as He leads you to a deeper place with Him. God bless you as you worship and sing!

  17. Thank you, Larry , for showing us this side of Solomon too.Praying for our eyes and hearts to be satisfied and full of Him, wanting nothing else. God bless you as you worship your first Love!

  18. God bless you, Angel Terry, as you worship Him today! So excited about Al’s chair! 🙂

  19. I love the words to the hymn you shared, Mentor Angela! “His blood avails for me.” So thankful and praising Him for that! God bless you as you worship your amazing God tonight! love and prayers!

  20. I’m thinking I have a long way to go yet, wonderful woman of the Word . . .and that you could teach me a thing or two! 🙂 God bless you as you pour out worship to Him! love you!

  21. Loved all those I Love You’s!
    God Bless You!

  22. thanks my sweet friend

  23. Deb. I love the line about “extravagant worship,” and there is also the extravagant love we can offer every day through our actions, as Jesus’ hands and face in the world. LOVE is the answer. The OT passages are tricky in that all those burnt offerings were replaced by Jesus’ sacrifice of himself, yet they are filled with wisdom… love, Amy

  24. 😀 I’m so glad! God bless you, too, Lady D, and I know He loves you right back!

  25. Oh that is so good, Amy . .. extravagant love! I love finding Jesus in the OT too. He’s everywhere! haha!
God bless you, dear Amy, and the extra special ministry and worship you have for Him!
    love and prayers!

  26. Thanks Deb! How I long to be constant in worship

  27. I’m enjoying “listening” to your worshipful heart beating loudly in this post, Debbie! My spirit has been stirred to worship Him! I want to worship Him extravagantly, in the place where I am right now! Wonderful, wonderful! What a blessing! Thank you!

  28. My heart was blessed, and spirit was stirred to worship as I read your comment! The song was so touching! I’m so glad you shared it, Ann! I will be adding it to my library, and it will more than likely be featured in a Praise and Worship Session! God bless you, as you worship Him from a deeper place today!

  29. You have a heart always beating for worship, Pastor J! God bless you as you live your life as a worship song for Him!

  30. So thankful for you, praising Paulette, and your own heart of worship, that loves Him with all you have and are. You are so beautiful. God bless you and fill you with His presence and joy today, as you just continue to worship Him, day after day!
    love and prayers!
