Moved By ?

“Now Satan stood up against Israel, and moved David to number Israel.”  1 Chronicles 21:1

There are any number of things we can be moved by in a day.

Lord, may we be moved by what moves You.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Such As These

You aren’t moved by
threats and lies

temptations dressed up
in disguise

but by love and honest prayers
heart-soaked cries

Oh Lord, may such as these
move I.

  1. Thank you, Dearest Deb….

“Lord, may we be moved by what moves You.”

    “heart-soaked cries”
Paints such an imagery of fervently praying and interceding … Thank you.

  2. Oh Sis, this is my new fave–a totally perfect poem from our totally perfect God. So, so beautiful–thank you!! And thanks, also, for the Hug–I got it, and here’s one back! Night-night–God bless you. love, sis Caddo Delight

  3. Bit scary isn’t it that even David, a man after God’s heart could be moved by satan! So interesting how your posts are echoing my life group sessions 🙂 Had one this morning by Beth Moore about the need for us to walk in discernment and recognise that we have been given the mind of Christ. May we have discernment and be moved by what moves Him. Bless you Deb!

  4. Wow – this is timely! I certainly have been in the moving mode this past week. 😀
I pray with you to be moved by what moves Him and be moved by Him.
    Thank you, sweet friend,

  5. Precious! 🙂

  6. If we could only come to understand what our Lord desires and then allow those same desires to enter our heart, so we could live them our for Him. Lord bless you

  7. “Now Satan stood up against Israel, and moved David to number Israel.” 1 Chronicles 21:1

This same event is related in 2 Samuel 24:1, but the first verse begins: “Now again the anger of the Lord burned against Israel, and it incited David… (1 Samuel 24:1)”

Two different points of view, but both are correct. This demonstrates how our sins allow Satan to move against us to cause us problems.

Your last line in your poem is the answer on how to avoid these problems:

“Oh Lord, may such as these
    move I.”

Good job. Take the rest of the day off.

  8. We should always move when God says move..We should always run after the heart of God and what moves His heart we should be seeking..Great post Debbie

  9. I am moved!

  10. Wonderful sentiment and poem.

  11. If my life is controlled by the One who indwells me, surely what moves Him must move me. “Let it be, Lord! May Your thoughts, attitudes and actions be mine! May my life be an outliving of Yours!”

  12. Awesome Poem!
    God Bless You!

  13. God bless you, dear Ann full of grace and song, and cover all that concerns you with His mighty Hand. Thank you for the song. Compassion is definitely a good thing to be moved by! 🙂 love and prayers!

  25. Debbie, moving being one of my common pursuits (we’ve already moved to a new place here in Madison after only a year!), I could appreciate both the concept of the physical move and the move toward what God wants for us. Love, love love. And more unconditional love! Thank you, Deb; this really brightened my outlook. Love, Amy
