Made Alive

“And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sin . . .”  Ephesians 2:1

I still remember how it felt before He made me alive.

Thank You, Lord, for not leaving me dead in my sins, but dying for me so I could be made alive.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Who Once Was Dead

I was dead inside
and wanted to die
and thought nothing
would ever change me.

Then You made me alive
so now I can’t hide
this smile
and rejoicing.  😀

  1. I just love Ephesians! So much wonderful truth to soak in. Reminds me of His words that He came that we might have life and have it to the full, in abundance. We can be living, but not alive. So glad He wants us alive! Bless you and grateful that He ‘made you alive’ to bless us all xx

  2. Love you Aimee! Thank you for your support and encouragement. I know what you mean about Ephesians! I kind of just want to post the whole book and not write anything myself. haha! I am soooo thankful to be alive too!!!! He is so good!
God bless you and carry you today, in His grace and love!

  3. I too remember my life before HE brought me to life! It was dark! Then all became light! Oh the darkness still tries to hide His glory but it cannot for that is in me! Thanks for sharing Deb!

  4. I love Ephesians and I love it that you are not only alive in Christ, but also that you are rejoicing. 🙂

  5. “…I still remember how it felt before He made me alive…”

I also remember and cringe to think that I was that close to spending an eternity in Hell. And if all of my life were to fall to pieces today and I lost everything, every friend, and every loved one, I would still rejoice because He made me alive in Him.

  6. I remember that darkness, Pastor J . . .like a dark cloud that never went away. God bless you as you live in His light now!

  7. Ephesians is just packed with wonderful scripture . . .kind of like you, wonderful woman of the Word. 😀 Thank you for reminding me of the rejoicing part . . .what a difference He has made in me!
God bless you as He lovingly cares for you today.
    love and prayers!

  8. Love that , Larry . . .nothing can take that away! God bless you and your life in Him!

  9. Oh yes, yes, yes!!! Sis, I celebrate this with you–it is so wonderful when HE makes us truly alive in Him!! That is why I sing and dance and party in my heart-y every day! Praise the name of Jesus! Sending love to you, and everyone here at church today–God bless you abundantly!

  10. Being dead was so very dark and scary. Being alive in Him the dark no longer scares me.

  11. A great testimony Debbie.
The ‘invitation hymn’ (sadly a thing of the past) being sung when the Lord called me to Himself was:
‘Out of my bondage, sorrow and night
    Jesus I come to Thee.
Into Thy freedom, gladness and light
    Jesus I come to Thee.’

All four verses tell the wonder of the change from death to life, but I love the last two lines of the first verse:
‘Out of my sin and INTO THYSELF
    Jesus I come to Thee.’

    What an exchange!
    What an amazing God!

  12. Wonderful post…reminds me to re visit my personal “Gilgal” Bless You

  13. I knew you would be able to relate, sis Caddo Delight! 😀 Loved the party in your heart-y . . .haha! God bless you as you rejoice in Him today! love and prayers!

  14. It was scary, sweet Patricia. So thankful that we are alive in Him now and the dark doesn’t hold the same sway over us that it did before! God bless you and your teddy cat!

  15. My heart is singing in praise for your awesome prose! This is a great big smiling post today, my darling Deb…thank you for uplifting and inspiring me. love love love
    your bee

  16. I had never heard that invitation hymn before, Mentor Angela. Wow, how beautiful. And yes, those lines are outstanding! Only He could do something like that. God bless you as you live in Him today! love and prayers!

  17. You always challenge me, Paul! 🙂 I looked up Gilgal . ..thank you for adding to my vocabulary and understanding. I don’t want to forget what He has done for me, nor let my love for Him grow cold.
God bless you and the life He has given!

  18. I love thinking about you smiling and being uplifted! 🙂 You know much about being made alive by an awesome God. So thankful for you, our lovely Bee! God bless you as you live for Him. love and prayers and hugs!

  19. Thank you, Deb

    This is just beautiful! 🙂

“Thank You, Lord, for not leaving me dead in my sins, but dying for me so I could be made alive”

  20. Thank you Ann full of grace and Jesus Life! God bless you as you praise Him today! love and prayers!

  21. I thought you’d know it Deb, but since you don’t and because I’m sure you’ll “Amen” all the “out ofs” and “intos” I’m typing it for you. (I expect to hear at least a couple of “Amens” coming all the way from there to here!)

Out of my bondage, sorrow and night
Jesus I come, Jesus I come.
Into Thy freedom, gladness and light
    Jesus I come to Thee.
Out of my sickness into Thy health,
Out of my want and into Thy wealth,
Out of my sin and into Thyself,
    Jesus I come to Thee.

Out of my shameful failure and loss,
Jesus I come, Jesus I come.
Into the glorious gain of Thy cross,
    Jesus I come to Thee.
Out of earth’s sorrows into Thy balm,
Out of life’s storms and into Thy calm,
Out of distress to jubilant psalm,
    Jesus, I comer to Thee.

Out of unrest and arrogant pride,
Jesus I come, Jesus I come.
Into Thy blessed will to abide,
    Jesus I come to Thee.
Out of myself, to dwell in Thy love,
Out of despair into raptures above,
Upward for aye on wings like a dove,
    Jesus, I come to Thee.

Out of the fear and dread of the tomb,
Jesus I come. Jesus I come.
Into the joy and light of Thy home,
    Jesus I come to Thee.
Out of the depths of ruin untold,
Into the peace of Thy sheltering fold,
Every Thy glorious face to behold,
    Jesus I come to Thee.

(I’d like to know his story. I think he may have had a dramatic conversion. I’ll look him up.)

  22. Once again, what timing. I watched one of Rob Bell’s videos this weekend that talked about the parts of us that need to die in order to be more Christ like.

  23. Oh I am loving this! AMEN! You had me giggling about hearing them over there! haha! What a wonderful hymn. I’m going to google William too and see what I find. 🙂 Thank you so much for going to all the trouble to post that here. You are such a sweetie and mentor, with the biggest heart for Him!
    love and prayers and thanks!
    amen-ing deb

  24. God bless you, Tammy, as you choose to be alive in Him! 🙂 I love how He times things.

  25. Hello Sweet Deb –
Beautiful and encouraging words, as always. 😀
I’m blessed to not be able to remember I time when I didn’t believe… but I can remember hours so dark that I longed for Him to take me home. That’s not today, though.
Today I’m smiling and rejoicing with you – made alive and thankful for it!

  26. I love that you are smiling and rejoicing and so alive in Him, gracious one! God bless you and keep you always close and closer still! love and prayers!

  27. Dearest Deb, I remember what it was like, too, before He came and made me alive! 🙂 Peace, Linda

  28. I don’t like to spend too much time thinking of back then . . .except when it brings me to praise Him for now! God bless you as you live for Him and share His life with us all! love and prayers!

  29. Praise God! I am so glad that He quickened me, because I was once dead in trespasses and sins! Hallelujah, what a Savior Jesus is! Thank you encouraging Debbie! God bless you!

  30. Loving your comments, full of praise to Jesus! 🙂 Thankful with you for our Savior! God bless you as you worship Him today! love and prayers!
