“And Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, ‘Please inquire for the word of the Lord today.'” 1 Kings 22:5
Jehoshaphat was willing to go with Ahab to fight at Ramoth Gilead against Syria . . .he just wanted to hear from God about it first.
Lord, I’m willing to go,Β just really need to hear from You today. And here’s a simple poem . . .
What Do You Think
I want to help out
and lend my support
so much to be done
but before I set forth
let’s just ask You Lord
for a word today
and see what it is
that You have to say.
Thank you for blessing me along. Next week I’m back in the New Testament with Ephesians.Β π
Sounds like the best plan of action to me …
God Bless You
Thank you for gently leading us to ask Him. I am bowing my head in prayer with you…can almost feel the smooth wooden altar and hear soft music accompanying your invitation…tears falling and gentle sounds of quiet prayers gong up all around me in this place.
Love,
Theresa
Thank you, Deb
This is absolutely beautiful.
“Lord, Iβm willing to go, just really need to hear from You today. ”
Amen.
Yes, sometimes we long to sound the battle cry, but it’s always best to check in with Him first. π
Blessings,
ann
“Just Ask”–that’s all we need to do; He is faithful to answer, a Father who only gives Good Gifts. It’s easy to start zooming around in our minds, but when I do, I hear His gentle voice saying, “Settle, settle”–and then His Peace comes. Love to you, Sis–and all here at church today. I’m so excited that we’re going on to Ephesians!
“And without faith it is impossible to please Him…” (Hebrews 11:6)
“So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.” (Romans 10:17)
Your poem says it all. Thanks.
I like to help, to use my hands, so I’m praying to like using my ears just as well. π God bless you Paul, as you go in Him today!
Your words blessed me and brought me to that place with you, wonderful woman of the Word. Love you! God bless you as you pray and He gently answers and gives you the word you need to hear today.
Ann full of grace . . .reading this from you brought that desire to hear from Him back even stronger. I just really really need to hear from Him before I can do anything it seems!
God bless you as you check in with your Jesus regularly, just because you love Him. π
I love His word to you, Sis Caddo Delight . . .settle, settle. That is precious. And I could sure use your prayers as I go into Ephesians. The New Testament is harder for me, oddly enough. Just don’t know what to say about those verses that we know and live by! Maybe I’ll just post scripture and then “amen.” haha!
God bless you and your time with Him, as He tells you just what you need to know today! love you!
Oh I really appreciate this, Larry! π Every time I hear from Him, my faith increases. He gave me two words the other day . . .hungry prayers. That’s the kind of prayers He wants me to pray.
God bless you, dear friend, as He speaks to you today.
Oh, I SO love that–“hungry prayers”! Because He longs to satisfy us fully and abundantly with Him! Sending you extra hugs, and prayers for grace–caddo
Thank you so much, sweet Sis! I can feel those hugs and prayers! love you!
I love this Debbie – it echoes a conversation a friend and I had the other night. We were talking about how Paul said he could do all things through Christ and how we have often used that verse to justify doing EVERYTHING. His strength and empowering grace is there for what He is asking of us, not for what everyone else wants or expects!
Pray that you would clearly hear what He is asking of you and then know Him working through you in those things. Bless you, as always I am refreshed by stopping by xx
Wow Aimee . . .I loved what you added here! The strength and grace to do what He is asking of us . . .not what everyone else is asking of us. I’m keeping that one close to my heart and mind today!
God bless you as you seek Him each day and listen to what He has to say! love and prayers! He is so evident in you, Aimee!
Getting a word changes everything, can clarify so much. I’m praying with the others that there will be a breakthrough soon… Hugs : )
So logical really. Let’s think of a miniscule comparison: the largest manufacturing plant in the world (whatever that would be I don’t know) but that plant would be highly organised, with specific jobs for specific people. No one employed there would have the option to choose their area of work.
The Lord’s workforce is gigantic in comparison, but He has set places and set tasks for each one of us. He has a specific will for me and I have no right to try to determine MY part in His plan. My part is to follow His directions . . . “see what it is that You have to say”
Debbie, now you know why I love your “simple poems”. You have been given of saying in just a few words what I take a page to say! Keep following His will as He uses you to bless us here in blogland.
What an amazing God!
I love hearing from Him! Praying that you do too, each day! God bless you and your life in Him! love and prayers!
π I count on you and everyone else to fill in for me, since I’m so stingy with words! haha! Thank you, Mentor Angela, for the analogy . ..that was perfect. God bless you as you wait to hear just what you should do! love you!
This is really just perfect for me today ! So perfectly penned!
Lord, Your will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven…
Deb,
I read about Jehoshaphat in I Chronicles 20 this morning and how he had everyone begin to fast and praise outside the temple when Israel’s enemies raised up against them. As they were praising, their enemies became confused and fought each other giving a great victory to Jehoshaphat without his even having to fight!
Ask Him, you may not have to work so hard, I’m learning this.
Bless you and your sweet poems,
Dawn
Oh sweet faith filled fisherlady . . .you are so gracious. Thank you for taking the time to read and bless us here. I read your latest post and still can’t seem to leave comments . . .but it is so so beautiful. So beautiful. Thank you for all you do in Him!
Oh Dawn, I love this so much! π Thank you! I’m learning with you, to just ask. The earlier the better for me! God bless you as you seek Him first each day! You reflect Him so well here in blog land!
Oh Deb, thank you for reminding me to inquire of the Lord, each and every day. Sometimes I am afraid to ask what He wants of me, because I’m not sure if I can make it through the day without crying out in pain. My cries are within because I have gotten very good at hiding my physical pain. (Another secret about me!) You are brilliant at bringing the Word to my heart…and making me think very deeply about my faith. You are a sweet blessing to me!
love you!!
Love you so much Beautiful Bee. Your Jesus heart always shows. I kind of think its YOU who are the blessing. I know I’ve shared this story before, but not sure if I have with you or not. Forgive me if I’m repeating please!
I understand what you are saying . . .afraid to ask. it’s already so hard. One night I couldn’t sleep and I just asked Him what He wanted for me. I braced to hear how I needed to be more and do more. But Bee . . .He told me He wanted me to be a song. I was so blown away and my trust in Him jumped a gazillion percent. And I’m not even musical, don’t know how to be a song! haha!
So I know as you go to Him and ask, He’s going to blow you away too, with His love and kindness and understanding of just where you are and what you are going through.
love and prayers and blessings big!
Oh Deb, I felt the Lord’s presence as I read your comments!
Your poems could be put to music…they are that good! So when God says he wants you to be a song…you are already being that!!
(…and you have not shared the story before…so thanks for sharing with me π
Love to my darling drop-dead gorgeous Deb, with the sweet singing spirit!!
your very own Bee
God bless you, encouraging Debbie! Enjoy the song! π It’s an oldie, but goodie!
God bless you, worship leader Paulette! Oh we are loving the song. My Aubrey gets so excited when someone sends us a song and I tell her about it. So she is here with me listening and rocking to Andrae too! So good! And how perfect with this post! Thank you muchly! love and prayers!
