Come Near To Me

“Then Elijah said to all the people, ‘Come near to me.'”  So all the people came near to him.  And he repaired the altar of the Lord, that was broken down.”  1 Kings 18:30

When my youngest gives me something to fix, she likes to watch me fix it as well.

Lord, may we come close enough to You today to realize You are working in all the broken places.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Repair

Come near to Me and do not fear
that you’re too broken down

for I know just what to do
and I know just how

to gather up the pieces
restore and then restart

a place for you to worship Me
on the altar of your heart.

  22. I went to read that Paul . . .thank you! You have me thinking about that pot that he was making from clay that was marred in his hands. 🙂 So thankful that I am in His hands now!

  24. Truly inspired. You are so blessed to have the Lord inspire you to write these “simple poems” which challenge, encourage and bless us. Thank you Debbie for your availablility to Him and your willingness to be used by Him.

He has picked up the pieces and mended them so many times in my life, that I would consider myself beyond repair was it not for the fact that we are repaired by the omnipotent Creator God. What great love He has to move Him to do this!

    What an amazing God!

  25. Okay, about the WordPress Photo Challenge of the week: (Regret) photo you commented on my site about .,. No one has gotten it yet, and would probably take a fellow guitar player to see it…I wont give it away on my site yet…because, frankly, I can’t believe no one has gotten it. But, just for you…and don’t tell anyone… I wont keep you in suspense any longer…My “Regret” photo…is”Drum Roll””””’
    A broken “E” string…dagnabit…☺
    Bless You
    paul

  26. I promise I won’t tell!!! But, I am giggling about the dagnabit! I’m not a guitar player, but used to get strings for my brother when he couldn’t find any place close by him to get them from! Thank you for letting me know. Now I can relax my brain cells . . .until the next challenge. 🙂

  27. Sis Caddo Delight, I’m so glad you were blessed. 🙂 I love the way you show His love here and everywhere. Thank you for being such a beautiful ambassador of His. love and prayers and happy valentine’s day to you, beloved of the KIng!

  28. Dear Mentor Angela . . .I figure I’ll know when He wants me to stop doing this, because then these simple poems just won’t come anymore. But as long as they do . . .well, here I am. haha! For better or worse.
Your comment reminded me of another poem I’d written, before I started blogging.

    Vessels

    As broken pots and vessels
    scattered, still we lay
    we pick up the pieces
    but find they won’t stay.

    Break us more, Lord Jesus
    make us into something new
to be filled up and poured out
    by the will of You.

God bless you and your love for your amazing God!
love and prayers for you and yours!

  29. Debbie that speaks volumes about the way the Lord deals with us day by day. Thank you.

What a horrible mess I would be now without Him and His constant work in me. No matter how diligently I try to ‘pick up the pieces’ I fail, but He has made me new time and time again . . . and wonder of wonders, He, the almighty, Creator God, chooses to actually USE me!

What a truly, incredibly, amazing God!

  30. Oh Deb,
This got me crying. Sometimes my body feels broken and oh, so vulnerable. Thank you for reminding me that God will “restore and restart” my body, in honor of Him who died for me. Bless you, my darling friend!
    love from your Bee

  31. Beautiful Bee, you have me crying too. So hard to know the pain you are in and how you feel so broken and vulnerable. I see Him already restoring you and you certainly have given Him your heart as a place of worship. love you sweet friend! God bless you as you come near to Him today!
