“Now it happened at the end of twenty years, . . .that King Solomon then gave Hiram twenty cities in the land of Galilee.” 1 Kings 9:10-11
“Then Hiram went from Tyre to see the cities which Solomon had given him, but they did not please him.” 1 Kings 9:12
“So he said, ‘What kind of cities are these which you have given me, my brother?’ And he called them the land of Cabul ( Good for nothing ), as they are to this day.” 1 Kings 9:13
Another Gift would come out of the area of Galilee.
Lord, let us receive with thankfulness and joy the Gift You give . . .Jesus Christ Your Son. And here’s a simple poem . . .
Nothing But Good
Nothing but good
is all that He’s done
Holy and Righteous
is where He is from
humbly and purely
to us He’s come
perfectly wonderful
Jesus, God’s Son.
I wonder if one Hiram’s “good for nothing” cities was Nazareth.
In any case, praise God that He sent His “Nothing But Good” Son into my ‘Nazareth’ heart.
Bless you Debbie, and your work.
Roger
Lovely reminder, when I complain about the lack of ‘good’ things in my life – if He gives me nothing else, He has given me everything in His Son! Thank you for this today.
What an interesting juxtaposition Debbie. I haven’t read Kings in a very long time partly because I struggle with much of it but that you used it to set up the gift of Christ is really welcome.
Wow! What a great revelation. Thanks.
As I read I was thinking of the comment “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” It is often the things that world calls “Good for nothing” that God turns into priceless jewels! Thanks for the reminder Deb!
Thank you, Deb
Beautiful poem. Thanks for helping link my OT. I enjoy the way you present the ‘hard to understand’ parts. 🙂
Lovely poem!
He is indeed “perfectly wonderful” … And that’s that! 🙂
Blessings
ann
Ah Roger . . .I love your comment! “Into my Narareth heart”. . .yes He did do that for me! 🙂
God bless you and all the good He is doing in you today! Thank you for ministering to us, Roger, in Jesus name. You bless me!
Dear poetess of His . ..”if He gives me nothing else, He has given me everything in His Son” . ..thank you for that! 🙂 That stops up my complaints right there! God bless you and all that He gives you today!
Thanks Tammy for your welcome comment! 🙂 I know what you mean about the Old Testament. Somehow He keeps helping me as I go back and forth, from one book in the Old and then a book in the New. There is just much longer and more books in the Old! So thankful Jesus is in there too!
God bless you and the good gifts He has given you! You are a blessing!
God bless you, Larry, and bring you good gifts today . . .great revelations of Him!
p.s. dear readers, Mr. Larry Who has 3 new e-books available now. I know we will love them. Want to go check them out? 😉
Pastor J . . .that’s what I was thinking of too! I love how God works and can use what is looked down on in this world. 🙂 As Angela would say, “What an amazing God!”
God bless you as He keeps showing you His good.
Yes, our Ann full of Jesus grace, “that’s that!” 🙂 No arguments here! Thank you so much for your encouragement and support!
God bless you and all the good that He is bringing forth from your life in Him. What was once seen as nothing is now much in His hands. love and prayers!
Mmmm–this is So Good–and all the comments too! Deb, I’m getting a glimpsed vision of you as a pastor/missionary–later in life, only because you’re pretty busy right now! Thank you always for your soft welcoming spirit here–I’m headed over to your letter. God bless you and Aub abundantly, overflowing your heart with such love that gives strength each day. Sis C ~~xxxooo
You are so sweet, Sis Caddo Delight! 🙂 We’ll see what happens with that glimpse of yours . . .
Thank you for the blessings and prayers. They mean so much and help sooo much!
God bless you as you welcome His good into your heart and reflect it back to all! love and prayers!
Loved this.
This is such a beautiful insight into can ‘anything good’ come out of Nazareth. I love the rich layers of scripture! Thanks for revealing another precious one. Bless you in your day Debbie x
God bless you, poet friend, and the Gift of Him you have! 🙂
Something about that “but they did not please him” part really grabbed me. Jesus doesn’t come to please us, does He, but to save us. Praying more and more that we will desire more and more of Him. God bless you, sweet Aimee, as you share the Gift of Jesus! love and prayers!
Hi encouraging Debbie,
This is a most precious way to honor our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! I truly enjoyed this post! 🙂 Very artfully and skillfully done! God bless!
Paulette
God bless you, praising Paulette. You know . . .we just can’t help but honor Him. 🙂 I know that it always pours out of you, every breath you take. Love you!
“Nothing but good is all he has done.”
Wow. It’s so easy to be ungrateful. It’s all about me and my everyday struggles. Ha. I pray tonight that I will focus on the blessings and the gift of Jesus.
Thanks for helping me see more clearly.
So thankful for you, Linda, and praying with you too, to focus on the blessings and on the One who blesses us! 🙂 God bless you and love on you tonight!
I am so thankful for all the Lord has done through you.
Love,
Theresa
Our wonderful woman of the Word, you bless me and keep me going. Thank you so much for the gift you are for Him and in Him. love you!
