Uncontained Glory

“. . .for the glory of the Lord filled the house of the Lord.” 1 Kings 8:11

“But will God indeed dwell on the earth?  Behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain You.  How much less this temple which I have built.”  1 Kings 8:27

God would indeed dwell on the earth and fill it with His glory.

Lord, thank You for coming to dwell in such a lowly fragile frame as ours and filling us with the glory of Your Holy Spirit.  And here is a simple poem . . .

Glory Filled

What can contain You
where can You dwell

if heaven is too small
surely we are as well

yet another one of
those mysteries of Yours

how You can live inside us
and make Your glory ours.

  1. I got goosebumps when I saw the title 🙂 So glad we worship such a big God! We sing this chorus ‘The same power that conquered the grave lives in me, the same love that rescued the earth lives in me’ – such an amazing mystery that God chooses to dwell within us and fill our lives with His attributes and glory. Amazing grace! Thanks Deb for getting me excited and thinking about His goodness as I head to bed x

  2. You are so precious Aimee! I love to read His word before falling asleep . . .just to have it in me, working while I sleep. 🙂

  5. “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, so that the surpassing greatness of the power will be of God and not from ourselves.” (2 Corinthians 4:7)

    Treasures are to be enjoyed while we live on earth and rewards are to be enjoyed in heaven. So, we can enjoy the glory of the Lord in His temple, which is inside us, everyday of our lives.

    Great word for today. Thanks.

  12. I really liked this… brings scripture to my mind…also part of a hymn:

    “O what a wonderful, wonderful day, day I will never forget;
    After I’d wandered in darkness away, Jesus my Saviour I met.
    O what a tender, compassionate friend, He met the need of my heart;
    Shadows dispelling, With joy I am telling, He made all the darkness depart.

    Heaven came down and glory filled my soul,
    When at the cross the Saviour made me whole;
    My sins were washed away and my night was turned to day,
    Heaven came down and glory filled my soul!”
