“Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.” Galatians 6:10
It’s fun to do good in general, but it brings me a special joy to be able to do something good for a fellow believer.
Lord, thank You for those opportunities to do good, and for placing the “good” in us that we do. And here’s a simple poem . . .
Extra Joy
So fun to surprise
with a good deed
to even do it
anonymously
and when it’s for someone
who also believes
His love spreads ever
more joyously.
This is exactly what we’re supposed to do, give in secret! “Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you…” (Matt. 6:4) Thank you for reminding us the right way to bless others.
(PS…I’ve nominated you for the “One Lovely Blog Award” – see this page for details! http://planaquarium.wordpress.com/awards/)
Thank you for always blessing us! And for the nomination! God bless you and the good you do each day!
Not much can be added to this poem. Thanks.
God bless you, Larry, and thank you for all the good ways you help others . . .like me! 🙂 Have a great week-end!
Dearest Deb – Isn’t it ironic that the term ‘do-gooder’ has such a negative connotation when doing good is exactly what we’re called to do! I’m with you, the great joy is doing something anonymously!
Maybe I could anonymously pass on an award to you, my sweet friend? 😉
love and grace to you, dear heart,
Debbie
You’re right, gracious one! I wasn’t thinking about that, but hmmm . . .why is a do-gooder just a despised thing? You have me giggling about passing me on an award. You do good to me each time I read your blog. 🙂 God bless you and those around you, and bring you much peace and joy today! love and prayers!
What a sweet poem!
And a wonderful reminder to not tire of doing good.
I used to think it was essential to remain anonymous, until reading through Matthew and seeing Jesus’ instruction in 5:16 to “let your light so shine so that others may see your good works”. It looked like a contradiction at first until I realized that the point was for others to be drawn to God and glorify HIM, rather than me.
I still feel most comfortable with keeping things between me and the Lord, though, as I often want to take just a smidgen of credit for myself…
Sweet Heather, I just imagine that there is much good that you do for everyone around you, just because you’re His and you can’t help but do it! 🙂 Anonymous good is fun and does keep us out of the way.
God bless you and all the good you and the Lord are up to today!
Oh, how fun, Deb–and I so agree!! Last year, after God miraculously delivered me from life-long depression, I prayed, “Lord, don’t ever let me miss out on an opportunity to be a blessing!” Not so I can “win points”, but because it’s just so much fun! Praying God’s blessing on everyone here–love to you, Sis! (Sorry I’m so late getting here today!)
Thank you, Deb
“Lord, thank You for those opportunities to do good, and for placing the “good” in us that we do”
Amen!
Yep. If He didn’t place it there, it wouldn’t exist! 🙂 Thankful that He gives us opportunity to share good with others.
Blessings,
ann
God bless you, Ann full of Jesus grace, joy and song and may His goodness be shown to you through others today! 🙂
No apologies needed sis! You can come or not come, whenever you want to . . .or don’t want to. 🙂 What a wonderful thing for you to pray. . .to be a blessing. And I can tell you that you are!
God bless you and bring good to you today!
Dear Deb,
I love this post. It put a smile on my face. Continue to be a source of light and encouragement for us all.
God bless xox 🙂
Seeing your comment did good to my heart and made me smile too! 🙂 Thank you and God bless you and yours!
You are so right, that if He didn’t place it in us–it wouldn’t exist. And as I’m painfully aware, when I try to do “good” in my own strength (my own idea) without consulting Him and partnering with Him for His Plan and Purpose–it will likely fall flat….bummer. God bless you all.
I have given you an award–to accept or not. Don’t worry bout the rules they are made to be broken. The badge will be on my blog Monday if you choose to accept it. Just know I enjoy your simple poems, they are always beautiful.
Thank you so much Patricia! I love your comment about that rules are made to be broken. . .haha! I’m technically challenged, so I pray that your feelings aren’t hurt if I don’t figure out how to accept the award. But I am still blessed, all the same!
God bless you, sweet Sis, for your heart full of His good, and all the sweet ways you bless us all! You are lovely!
Deb… this is a very true saying! love it!
God bless you, faith-filled fisherlady, and all the good you do!
Sweet Susan . . .I was so touched at your blog post, but couldn’t get a comment to go through. Just wanted you to know that you and yours are in my prayers. Such a special, precious ministry.

Before we knew Christ we lived for self – and were miserable. Now the love of Christ is shed abroad in our hearts, we seek to extend His love to others, and we are rewarded. No, of course we don’t do it for the rewards, but our God is faithful and when we obey His will, His blessings will follow.
Thank you, Patricia, and God bless you!
That is it exactly it, mentor Angela. “The love of Christ is shed abroad in our hearts”. We can’t help it . . .it just happens. 🙂
God bless you as you extend His love to others! love and prayers!
My Deb,
During my recent trip, at the end of my son’s 3-day convention, I saw a woman who looked as if her world was falling apart as she rushed down a hallway. I stopped her, asked if she was okay…and she said her bus was leaving in 20 minutes and she had no money to pay the fare because the hotel would not cash a check. I held her hand and asked if I could pray for her; then I gently asked how much money she needed. She said “$25.00” and I had the exact sum in my wallet. I gave it to her, and the smile on her face lit up my life! She said the Lord was so good, and I was a little angel sent by Him.
When I got home I looked up the mileage for her bus trip–it was 435 miles. I know we are to help others, or pray in secret without boasting, but I thought this story fit in with your excellent poetry today. God is so wonderful each and every day…and each and every moment of the day!
love & hugs,
your bee 🙂
Beautiful Bee . . .what a perfect story to share here! Thank you big for that. That you had the exact sum in your wallet is just amazing and so God that she would run into you. You spread even more joy by sharing about it here.
God bless you as you love and do good everywhere you go, spreading Jesus joy a hundred fold! love you!
