Liberty

“Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.”  Galatians 5:1

My youngest likes to dress up plastic horses.  Sometimes I’m not sure if I’ll manage to get them undone again.

Lord, please come and undo me once again from what I’ve gotten tangled in.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Please Undo Me

I stand
like Lady Liberty
awash
in His mercy
arms raised
to the One who frees
who knows
how to undo me.

  1. Debbie this poem is so beautiful. I love the image of our arms raised to Him. Am reading Exodus at the moment and the line ‘that they may worship me’ keeps coming up and standing out. He leads us out from where we are and sets us free so that we can truly worship Him. Thank you for a wonderful end to my day (not sure with time zones, yours is probably starting!)

  2. “…My youngest likes to dress up plastic horses…”

When my daughter was a youngster, she liked to dress up the cat and wrap it in a blanket like a baby. The poor cat spent most of its days hiding from my daughter in hopes it could avoid such fun, but my daughter always found it.

Let us all praise the One who frees us.

  3. Beautiful poem, Debbie! 🙂

Like Lazarus, we’re wrapped up in our ‘death clothes’, and Jesus unwraps us to life.

  4. Deb, this is rich and precious–oh, those earthly entanglements! I love “Lady Liberty”–and surely, Jesus is the Only Best ONE to free us! Thank you, my dear sister, for these daily words of spiritual honey. Love to you! xxxooo

  5. Oh wow! Thanks, Deb 🙂

“Lord, please come and undo me once again from what I’ve gotten tangled in. ”
    Amen.

Great poem :- ) An absolutely wonderful Word 😉 picture. Sometimes the glue accidentally gets on my fingers and I find myself becoming attached to other things I didn’t want to be connected with … Thankful that when He cleans, He removes the glue-tracks as well.

Blessings much as you wait on Him to do the undoing.

    With arms raised,
    ann

  6. Thank you, Aimee . ..now I am thinking of that line, “that they may worship me”. Praying to stay free from anything that would keep me from doing that! God bless you sweet lady, as you sleep and as you rise! 🙂

  7. Praising Jesus with you, Larry. You have me smiling, because my daughter had this mellow kitty before that let her dress him up too. She could even put him in a doll stroller and push him around the house. He was a marshmallow, so sweet and gentle with her.
God bless you Larry as you live free for Him!

  8. Ted, what a wonderful comment and image that brings! Yes! God bless you and the life He frees you to live for Him.

  9. spiritual honey . . .more of that poet in you coming out even in your comments! So sweet! 🙂 Thank you, sis Caddo Delight. You have me thinking about those horses that Aub dresses up. . .sometimes I have to cut things off of them. Jesus IS the best one to free us, knowing just how to do it with the least amount of damage.
God bless you as you stand free with your Best One!
    love and prayers!

  10. Thank you for being here, Ann full of Jesus grace, joy and song. Your glue analogy is so good. You should see me with super glue. It’s bad. 🙂
God bless you as you keep your arms raised in praise!

  11. Hi Sis–I know you don’t do awards, but I nominated you for the “Genuine Blogger Award” for obvious reasons! No obligation, just be blessed! love you xxxooo

  12. Thank you Sis Caddo Delight! I am definitely blessed that you would nominate me and think of me. God bless you and congratulations on more and more awards!

  13. I am reminded of the old saying –
    “Discard the GRAVE clothes
And put on the GRACE clothes”

So many times we get so tangled in old ways, old habits – our old nature. But praise God we have One who can – and does – untangle and make us perfectly “together” again!

“Awash in His mercy” – how true!

    Thanks Deb.

  14. Thank you, mentor Angela, for that old saying! What a great way of putting it. Love these grace clothes. 🙂
God bless you and the wonderful way He has untangled your life!

  15. Simply beautiful! That should be all of our prayer! It should be published as print…if you haven’t already! Thank you for this!

  16. God bless you, Sebastian, as you stand free in Jesus today! 🙂

  17. Sweet Deb,
Is she dressing the ponies up in Barbie clothing?! Haha! I can imagine you trying to “undress” the ponies. As sister Ann said, “wonderful Word picture”
You have the gift, my darling Deb, of making us all smile and think and pray and thank our Heavenly Father for YOU!!
    love & prayers…

  18. You have me laughing! Nope, not Barbie clothes, but our own creations. Some things just have to go ahead and be cut off. haha! She has good knotting skills. 🙂
Thankful for you too, our sweet Bee of blogland, Queen of everything! love and prayers!
