Last Words

“Although my house is not so with God,
Yet He has made with me an everlasting covenant,
Ordered in all things and secure.
For this is all my salvation and all my desire. . .”  2 Samuel 23:5

Everything wasn’t perfect in David’s world . . .but God was.

Father, thank You for making an everlasting covenant with us through Your Son.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Secured

By Your blood
we are secure

a covenant given
eternal and sure

all things ordered
promised and planned

our salvation, our desire
in the palm of Your hand.

  1. May all of us Christians remember that we are secure because of what Christ has done 🙂 Have a lovely day Debbie!

  2. A sweet reminder of the believer’s security in Christ!

    Thank you, Debbie.

  3. “…in the palm of Your hand.”

I find these words comforting, especially in today’s world.

  4. Amen, edifying Eden! God bless you and yours with His security today!

  5. Thank you, Heather, for sharing His Word and love the way you do, for letting others see His covenant at work in you. God bless you and your sweet family!

  6. I felt this yesterday is a way, as at first our car wouldn’t start, but then did as I tried one last time. Then again as we drove the 30 miles back home in driving snow, without incident . . . except praise and singing. 🙂
God bless you, Larry, as He keeps you, and all the plans He has for you, secure.

  7. Thanks, Deb

“in the palm of Your hands” … Makes me feel all snug and safe. Knowing that my hopes and dreams are in His hands should suffice, but there are days I forget I have no need to try and get things done on my own.

It’s great to be secure in Him and His ability to take care of what concerns me….

Thankful His plans for me are perfect, even when my own life/plans/dreams are not.

    Blessings much,
    ann

  8. Thank you, Ann full of Jesus grace, joy and song for reminding me too, of something that He told me yesterday. (Ya, I know . .. just yesterday and I need reminded already) I find that I am stressing too much . . .again. He told me that I’m placing more importance on what I do than I am on Him, on what He does. Not only is our salvation secure in Him, but each moment of our days. 🙂
God bless you and the way you feel cherished and secure in His hands!

  9. Amen. Salvation is good, but I long more for the re-unification. 🙂 Well written.

  10. Your comment made me smile! So glad that re-unification is secure for us too. 🙂 God bless you, poet friend, and all the good He is doing in your life!

  11. Thank you for yet another good word, sis Deb–Yes! God is perfection, and He glows in us, His imperfect vessels. I’m glad to be safe in His hands too (and glad He brought you through the snow in a Jesus-powered car!!). Love to you and all your readers–Caddo

  12. I’m so glad you are safe in His hands too, sis Caddo Delight. From there, you dispense His love and grace to us all. God bless you this night and your Jesus powered writing. love and prayers!

  13. “… a covenant given, eternal and sure.”

Sometimes I like to think about His assurance of salvation just for today. It helps me through even the hardest moments and makes me want to serve Him even more because I’m so grateful for that promise. We do what we do to serve Him, right?

  14. You are so right, lovely Linda! I often can’t do much thinking beyond just today . . .maybe it goes with the whole caregiver thing, I don’t know. But your comment really blessed me and will encourage me as I go, day by day, in His assurance.
God bless you and all the promises He’s given you.
    love and prayers!

  15. Debbie this is perfectly beautiful! confirming His faithfulness… as usual!
    you are a gift!

  16. We love that faithfulness . . .well, all of Him! 🙂 God bless you, faith-filled fisherlady, as you delight being in His hands. love you!

  17. Your “simple poem” carries heaps of complex truths which the “natural man” cannot understand, but in which we rejoice because of our relationship with the One who ordained them and brings them to fruition. Such security!
    What a truly amazing God!!!

  18. God bless you, mentor Angela, as you rejoice in Him and the security He gives! I love your amazing God closings! 🙂 So true!
