“You have also given me the shield of your salvation.
And Your gentleness has made me great.” 2 Samuel 22:36
David fought many battles. Yet it wasn’t his physical strength or leadership skills that saved him and made him great.
Oh Lord, thank You for saving me into greatness and being my Fiercely Gentle Hero King. And here’s a simple poem . . .
He Saves Me Gently
I am held
by Your salvation
loved greatly
by the One made small
I am saved
from the destroyer
gently humbled
by my All in All.
Dearest Deb – My jukebox brain was playing You Are My All in All during my quiet moments this night. And, as always, as I was singing those words in my heart, I prayed that they might be someday true. Then, after popping off several times, the internet let me connect long enough to read your poem and I’m gently humbled.
Thank you, sweet friend.
Debbie
Oh, I also grew up with that song! It has great meaning for me; thank you for infusing this verse with such a beautiful melody. Blessings!
Deb, I want to thank you for sharing this. He saves gently, humbles…gently. The scripture reference was a confrmationfor me about something.
Love,
Theresa
Lovely poem Debbie 🙂 Blessings!
Thank you, Deb
“Oh Lord, thank You for saving me into greatness and being my Fiercely Gentle Hero King.”
Amen!
Loving the ‘Hero King’ … now I can call Him my Papa Hero King. Cool 🙂
Where would I be if it had not been for His grace and mercy? He took the mess that I was and made it into something beautiful, to the glory of His name.
Blessings

“…Oh Lord, thank You for saving me into greatness…”
If only we Christians had a revelation that we are saved into greatness, that it wasn’t just a willy-nilly decision, then maybe, we’d act like sons and daughters of the most high King who chose us before the foundation of the world.
I love every word and line of this, sis Deb–so powerful and wonderful, and personal. “Fiercely gentle Hero King”–I need that in the form of a sign on my wall where I can see it daily! “Held by your salvation”–is a very comforting image for me today. We are cradled in the BIG hand of God’s salvation! Thank you, thank you to my sisters/brothers here! God bless you all with overflowing grace and joy this day! love, caddo xxxooo
🙂
Thank you, gracious one, for bringing that song with you and coming here! 🙂 What a blessing you are. Thursdays are a little more challenging for me, so to come home to all these comments makes me smile. God is good and He is gentle too, when we need gentle. You have a gentle generous heart! God bless you and keep you plugged in to His jukebox! 🙂
God bless you, planaquarium, and thank you for infusing praise to Him here! Your poetry has His gentleness / greatness in it. 🙂
Wonderful woman of the Word . . .I was praying for you today, as He brought you to mind and heart. God bless you in all the gentle ways He speaks to you today. Thank you so much for the sweet song! 🙂 love and prayers!
God bless you and your photos, some gentle . . .all great! 🙂
Thank you Ann full of Jesus grace, joy and song for making me smile with your Papa Hero King. 🙂 Amy Grant sings about us being a beautiful mess . . .I like that idea!
God bless you as He greatly loves you today!
You always leave us with something worth while to consider Larry! Thank you! Today, I cleaned a sweet family’s house. I love cleaning, as weird as that sounds, because I can pray while I do it. And maybe it was from a song I’d heard, but a phrase kept coming to me . . .all that His blood has done for me. His blood has done and is doing great things.
God bless you, Larry, son of the most high King!
Sweet sis Caddo Delight . . .thank you for your comments full of His grace and joy! We will talk and see what I can do about making that Fiercely Gentle Hero King into a sign for you. 🙂 That would be fun! God bless you and hold you gently, reminding you of the greatness you have in Him today. love you!
God bless you, Heather, and smile greatly on you today!
“…thank You for saving me into greatness…”
Amen, Debbie. Such a pity that most Christians think themselves as saved to be religious! May God shatter that thinking in everyone of us this year.
“Fiercely Gentle” – love that. Much better than gentle Jesus meek and mild!
God bless
Roger
Roger! So good to see you! (well, you know what I mean!) Something really exciting to think about being saved to do great things . . .to be great for Him. 🙂 And glad you liked fiercely gentle. Didn’t know if I was getting a little carried away or not. haha!
God bless you and yours, Roger, and all the ways you are great in Him!
