“Then the king said to Amasa, ‘Assemble the men of Judah for me within three days, and be present here yourself.’ So Amasa went to assemble the men of Judah.” 2 Samuel 20:4
“But he delayed longer than the set time which David had appointed him.” 2 Samuel 20:5
Amasa wouldn’t get another chance to respond quicker. Joab made sure of that.
Lord, thank You for this lifetime You give us to come to You and brings others too. And here is a simple poem . . .
Assemble
You are calling us to come
and to bring others too
now is the time
to do what we must do
You are gracious and patient
You are love through and through
all the more reason
for us to eagerly obey you.
Sometimes I’m lazy, sometimes obtuse, occasionally I’m afraid. Thank you for reminding me that I can always come, but I don’t get a second chance to ‘come quickly’.
Debbie, this is a sobering reminder. I need to not delay in ‘scraping my mess together and planting a flag on the top of the heap and declaring that somehow, I have faith that all can be used for the glory of God.” That is slightly loose paraphrase of something I read recently but I needed your reminder to not delay. Thank you, Deb, for ever and gently prodding us on.
Amen Debbie! 🙂
Debbie, somehow your “simple” poems have a way of pointing out complacent areas in my heart…Whenever I prove to be less than perfect, I want to hide or drag my feet when going to the Lord to clear my conscience and return to fellowship with Him. In this way, I make much of my own “badness” and it obscures His glorious offer of mercy and washing with His Word.
Healing is not possible for one who refuses to come to the Healer.
Your posts also tend to bring to mind other areas of scripture. This morning was 2Corinthians 6:2:
For he says, “In a favorable time I listened to you, and in a day of salvation I have helped you.” Behold, now is the favorable time; behold, now is the day of salvation.
And, the account of Noah’s ark, when the long-open door of opportunity was finally closed.
Thank you, Deb
“You are calling us to come
and to bring others too”
Now is indeed the time … He won’t delay forever. May we run quickly with the message in His Word! So many still don’t know Him 😦
Thankful for His grace that sustains us.
Blessings
ann
“…now is the time
to do what we must do…”
This seems to be apropos for us believers today.
My take-away today is in the last 3 lines. Because He is “love through and through”–that should be our reason for eagerly obeying, not “fear” or anything else that is not of Him. May God richly bless Deb and all who visit here today!
Gracious Deb . . .I’m not so sure how quickly I come either! Thank you for helping me think more about that, if I am waiting and dragging my feet or eager to come to Him. That eagerness is infectious and helps others come too. 🙂 God bless you and thank you for coming here and blessing!
I loved your paraphrase, Angel A. Having faith that it can all be used for the glory of God is a great thing . . .something I need all the time. God bless you as you do what He is asking you to do today and your faith just keeps growing! love and prayers!
God bless you, Eden! I love what you’ve been up to!
Heather, thank you so much for what you bring and add here. 🙂 It’s like a post all its own. And the scripture from 2 Corinthians and the Noah reference. . .well it just deepens and spreads the simple. You have me thinking and praying more and that’s a good thing. Thinking about healing not being possible if we don’t come to the Healer.
God bless you as you wash in His Word today!
Ann full of Jesus grace, joy and song . . .that is what I was thinking too, about those that don’t know Him yet. For us to come to Him and bring them too. Thankful with you for His grace that helps us do what we need to do. God bless you and sustain you today, as you come to Him.
I always feel so much better when I do things now instead of later, when I take the time to listen and obey. 🙂 God bless you and all the nows He gives you!
God bless you, sweet sis Caddo Delight, for picking up on that. That is why we obey and come to Him, because of love. Thank you for your prayers and blessings. May your day be sweet in His presence and care. love you!
And for those who come here and know a little about Aubrey, click on Caddo Veil above to see what she wrote for her today! 🙂
Pray for me that I will be less prone to delay.
Love,
Theresa
As a truly “pro”crastinator this is a timely poem.
And you pray for me too, ‘kay? 🙂 love you, wonderful woman of the Word! Thank you for taking us with you when He calls you and shows you something special. love and prayers!
Well, I’m kind of pro-Patricia. . .so we’ll just say you have your own schedule, that’s all. 😀 God bless you and all the time you have and give to Him!
Hi encouraging Debbie,
“Then saith He unto His disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that He will send forth labourers into His harvest.” Now is the time for labourers to go out and reap a great harvest for God’s kingdom! Great poem Debbie, with a timely word, in season! God bless!
Paulette
Praising Paulette . . now is always the right time to come to God, isn’t it? 🙂 Thinking of the song “Come, now is the time to worship . . ” Thank you for that perfect scripture that tells us the harvest is full and ready. God bless you each and every season of your life in Him!
“… now is the time to do what we must do.”
Time is short, isn’t it… In my bedtime prayers I practically BEG for the right words. If I say the wrong thing I might blow it for good. Maybe that’s a cop out. I wonder…
I know getting saved is the work of the Holy Spirit, but still.
Thanks for making me really think… Hugs.
That’s a tough one Linda. I know and thought of that too, as we speak of NOW being the time. Just thinking He will let us know with our loved ones when our NOWS are, when the time to do what we must do is. No cop out there, lovely one. You’re just waiting for God to say “now”. love and prayers for your days spent caring for others and in His care.
Just perfect Deb, your poem is just perfect today. Bless you x
Thank you, Aimee, for your faith and encouragement that blesses us all! God bless you and yours too, as you come to Him!
Beautiful, my deb…just beautiful. Thank you!
love from your bee
>> “now is the time
to do what we must do”
“Now” is the only time we have.
I believe there is little time left and the need to “redeem the time” is more urgent than ever. May we all be ready, willing and eager to hear God’s promptings and to speak His Word lovingly whenever He calls.
I’ll tell you what’s beautiful . .. YOU. 😀 Thank you, Bee, for bee-ing here and spreading His love and grace.
love and prayers for you a bee-autiful day in Him!
How you must realize even more so than some of us, how now is the only time we have. Praying with you that I am living now, listening now, responding now to Him.
God bless you, mentor Angela, and your ready heart for Him!
Your poetry is beautiful, and enriched with the Word and power of Adonai, Yeshua, and the anointing of the Holy Spirit. God bless you sister!
Thank you for coming by Lyn and for such an encouraging and kind comment! 🙂 God bless you and yours today, with abundant love!
