God Strategy

“And the Lord said to David, ‘Go up, for I will doubtless deliver the Philistines into your hand’.”  2 Samuel 5:19
“And when David inquired of the Lord, He said, ‘You shall not go up; circle around behind them, and come upon them, in front of the mulberry trees’.”  2 Samuel 5:23
“So it shall be, when you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry trees, then you shall advance quickly. For then the Lord will go out before you to strike the camp of the Philistines’.”  2 Samuel 5:24

No matter what we’re facing, God has a plan.

Thank You, Lord, for knowing each of us individually and deeply and knowing exactly what is going on in our lives.  And here is a simple poem . . .

In the Works

Sometimes what you need
will be delivered into your hand

other times you’ll have to wait
and trust in My plan

for I won’t always do things
the same way each time

but know that I am working
out something good and divine.

  1. indeed, sometimes we constrain the lord by thinking things might happen in a certain way. but the lord can make things happen in a way beyond our imagination/understanding.

  2. Thank you, Deb

Beautiful poem and prayer. Thanks for sharing!

The whole thing speaks volumes but this seemed to grab me by the boot straps:
“…other times you’ll have to wait
    and trust in My plan…”

Sometimes it seems all I do is wait, and wait, and wait.. and then wait some more, but I am learning to work and watch while I wait. I refuse to bury my talents simply because I haven’t seen my prayers answered in the physical. He heard them before I uttered them … there in nothing too hard for Papa.

Praying we will allow Him to strengthen and sustain us as we wait on His perfect timing.

God bless you, Dearest Delightful Deb. I love stopping by early in the morning for the daily snippets of ‘simple’ encouragement that helps me keep my focus. I think your blog does to me what coffee does to some 🙂

  3. Thanks zzzisle for adding that and helping us trust in Him all the more! God bless you and all the plans He has for you.

  4. Ann full of Jesus grace, joy and song . . .the waiting and waiting. I know what you mean! Praying for you to hear that marching in the tree tops soon and know that your time to advance has come. 🙂
Smiling about the coffee comment! May God bring you just the flavor and strength you need for each day!
God bless you as you wait and work and watch . . .and worship Him.

  5. Thank you for this reminder Debbie. It is something I’ve been needing to be reminded of a lot lately. Blessings!

  6. “God works all things together for good to those who love Him and are called according to His purpose” Rom. 8:28 Thanks Deb for reminding me of this when life doesn’t show it.

  7. Wonderful reminder, Sis Deb–comforting! I have to laugh a little though–at myself–as even today I was telling God my frustration about “my” Christmas dinner plans. I called my cousin, and midway through describing the situation I said, “well, I guess I should just ask God what it was He wanted me to do.” His Plan, not mine!!

Wish you were here–I’m going to bake gingerbread & butterscotch brownies to take to my friend’s dinner on Christmas Eve! May He richly bless your day, sweet sister!

  8. Thanks Deb – this is a wonderful post and poem – packed with truth! I find myself pondering your simple thoughts throughout the day and coming back to reread and let them sink in a little more. Love how you wrapped it up – know that I’m working something good and divine. Seems to me when we get that God is good and does good we are released to trust even when it means waiting 🙂

  9. My daughter just accompanied a friend to Spain for the friend’s back surgery and all the details of the trip got so very difficult… It was truly a miracle to see how God worked it all out and after many changes they arrived home well last night…surgery successful…
God is in every detail…may we always trust His plan

  10. God bless you, Eden, and your works of art! Loving the plans He has for you!

  11. Waiting by the mulberry trees can be challenging. Praying for all of us who wait to catch a glimpse (or more) of His plans for us. To know we haven’t missed the boat.
God bless you and remind you often . . .no matter what!

  12. I love you and your baking and blessing. A sweet aroma comes right through the screen. 🙂 And that is so me . . .making plans and then asking Him. Wondering how much more peace I would have and less stress, if I always asked Him first.
God bless you and all the plans He has in mind for you! Oh they are good!

  13. Aimee . . .thank you for what you add to the simple stuff here. 🙂 I appreciate you so much. Something about that “when we get that God is good and does good we are released to trust even when it means waiting.” YES! Like that one post of yours when we talked about if we could just get that God really loved us, so we could then be released to go and love and do what He designed us for. God bless you big time, in the waiting and in the wonder of how much He loves you and is working out good on your behalf.

  14. Thank you, faith-filled fisher lady, for sharing this precious testimony of His good plans. 🙂 In the midst of the difficult, may I still trust! God bless you as He brings you joy in the details of His deep love and plans for you.

  15. “But know that I am working out something good and divine.”

I was just praying last night about my husband’s broken hip, and the longer I reflected on our new challenges, the more I could see God’s hand in things I had never considered before! Struggles, misunderstandings, bitterness along the way… issues I hadn’t considered.. and now, how all those pieces were starting to fit together!

I was so excited I couldn’t sleep! He really was working on my behalf to make something beautiful out of my imperfect life! Can we ever thank Him enough? I mean, what can anyone say when God gives them “something good and divine.”

Thanks for listening… still not over it. ; )

  16. I pray you never get over it and me neither! The same thing keeps happening to me. After so many years of just thinking that I was a mess and messing everything up and missing out on what He was wanting me to do. 🙂 He is good, all the time, and His plans for us are good!!!!
God bless you and hug you for me! Now you have me all hyped up! 🙂

  17. OMGosh… Seriously? I am so so happy to hear that God is moving in your life in a way that truly blesses you and reaffirms the direction He’s given you!! In fact, it’s making me cry a little bit. We’ve both struggled, I know, and when I hear that you’re happy I’m so happy too! Hugs back atcha… : )

  18. Hi sweet sister, mine–I am so falling asleep at my keyboard, but had to come by to tuck you in. I did not get my baking done today–although I made a huge pot of chili, and some spinach dip, so the baking is now on tomorrow’s “to-do” list!! My neighbor and I settled on New Year’s Day for the dinner, which is fine–if I can get “Tiny Tim” to answer his phone, I’ll be inviting him to join us. Jeff & I think he might stay longer than on Thanksgiving, since Jeff will be there–that is my prayer, anyway. So, assuming this is the Plan God had in mind–it will give me a bit of a break after Christmas Eve. As you have a family, I’m sure the concept of “break” is even more laughable than mine–I have plenty of projects to do, so I won’t exactly be lying on the couch watching movies & eating snacks!

But it is a glorious time of year–I get so excited for New Year’s, wondering what “wonders” are in store from the Lord. Praying that I can “learn faster” His lessons so I’ll be a further blessing, each year I grow older. You know, Sis, I never dreamed I’d live to be 59–and could never imagine being so happy. There is no greater gift, truly.

Oh, and I want to thank you for “introducing” me to some other lovely sisters who write. Whenever I get a spare minute, I visit the sites listed on your blog roll. I’m really enjoying Lauren Scott–wish the 3 of us could get together here in my living room!

Okay, I’m girding my loins and heading for the kitchen. Big hugs to you–sleep tight! Your Caddo Delight

  19. I just wanted to say a Big Amen to what you all are discussing–I now know that if God could do something with the Mess that Was Me, truly nothing is impossible for Him. We all have a story–but SIsters, they are stories of VICTORY. Not that we are “perfect”–but we’re simply and wonderfully “victorious over-comers”! Yay, GOD!!

  20. Sis Caddo . . .you are such a wonderful cheerleader! Love you! We may never get to bed at this rate. haha! But love praising Him with all of you. Thank you so much! Now . . .get some rest. 🙂

  21. I love your plans and pray that you all get to be together, enjoying the food and each other. Good company. 🙂
Oh Caddo . . .you make me think back to those days I wasn’t so sure I would ever live this long either or be happy. He is certainly a miracle worker and so able.
I am trying to think who Lauren Scott is. hmmmm. Is it from answersfromthebook? That is a Loren though. But glad you have found something to refresh you wherever you visit!
I’ll be gone most of tomorrow, but will catch up later!
love and prayers for your baking yet to do!

  22. Hey, Sis Deb–sorry for confusing you! Lauren Scott (LScott Poetry) isn’t on your blog roll, but I have “met” others through you! Late at night, all the names & words blur in my fuzzy little brain– Will see you later, God bless you!
