The Lord Be Between

“And as for the matter which you and I have spoken of, indeed the Lord be between you and me forever.”  1 Samuel 20:23 NKJV

Normally, we wouldn’t want anything to come between our relationships.

Lord, thank You for being the glue that holds us together. And here’s a simple poem . . .

God Glue

Different opinions
seek to pull us apart

words, actions, attitudes
stab in the heart

but You are between us
holding both our hands

keeping us together
just as Love commands.

  1. Lovely poem…
Your pieces are VERY soothing 🙂

  2. Deb, I agree with Festival King: soothing perfectly describes your writing. They are filled with simple yet deep wisdom, also.

This one, today, would make a perfect card for a relationship I have that is terribly fraught with pain and disjoint. At least, I think it would.

Thank you, again, for being so faithful to your gift and for sharing it with all of us. Day after day you do this…thank you!

  3. So very true!

  4. God bless you, festivalking, and your relationships! You are a blessing and a joy! 🙂

  5. Thank you, Angel A, for being so faithful to Him in your life, in all the hard relationships and situations. God bless you and comfort you today, as you continue to love and seek Love. 🙂 So glad to hear from you!

  6. God bless you, hero, and your writing that brings me joy and smiles . . .and sometimes insects. 🙂

  7. Beautiful, Deb.

Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him. And a threefold cord is not quickly broken. (Eccl. 4:12)

  8. Beautiful! Loved it. Moskowitz

  9. “…keeping us together
    just as Love commands.”

This seems to work best under extreme persecution.

  10. Debbie, loved this. We are all brothers and sisters under God. Amy

  11. What I love about this concept of God between us .. is what is God? Love … when God’s love, which is pure and powerful and covers a mulitude of sins, stands between two people there is no telling the healing, compassion, and connection that can be manifested.

  12. Oh Ted . . .thank you for adding Eccl. 4:12! That is a really beautiful addition. 🙂 God bless you, Ted, and those He has connected to you.

  13. Thank you, Buddah, for coming by and leaving such a nice comment. God bless you as write your way through November!

  14. Yes, I can see that Larry. Those under extreme persecution do not have the luxury of opinions or hurt feelings. God bless you and the love you stir up for the persecuted church.

  15. Thankful to have you for a sister. 🙂 God bless you, Amy, and all the people you let nothing but Love be between.

  16. Wow, Rachel, that is a really wonderful and powerful comment! You have definitely stirred me with the depth of it and the power of God’s love.
God bless you, Rachel, and the special ministry He has given you.

  17. Debbie! This is precious! Just the glue I would love to share with my dear man today… this is exactly how we have felt for 34 years. We know that without God being the glue for us we would have fallen apart long ago…
just perfect! love it! Great “simple poem”

  18. God bless you, faith-filled fisherlady, as you stay glued to your hubby. 🙂 I think of that too . . .that marriages could just not work without Him. Happy Anniversary whenever it is!

  19. I wonder if Jonathan was actually saying “Thy will be done” with reference to staying away if the arrows went past him, in which case he would be separated. So basically, I don’t get it.

I relate to Christians being pulled apart. Had that experience the other day and still feel some resentment. Your poem brings up some deep thought. Hugs… : )

  20. Linda, I love your comments because you are you and you see what you see that I don’t see. I know Jonathan didn’t want to believe that his father was really going to harm David. And that no matter what, Jonathan had pledged to love David like a brother. Even though they were going to be separated, with the Lord between them, they could stay connected. Kind of like you and I are connected by the Holy Spirit, even though we may never see each other. I don’t think I cleared anything up, did I? haha! Maybe someone smarter than I will come back and comment. (hope, pray)
God bless you and bringing His love and healing into that experience you went through. It’s so easy to talk about something like this, but it’s the living out of it that makes it real to us. love you!

  21. Debbie,

Beautiful poem and message. The comments were lovely, as well!

  22. God bless you, praising Paulette, and the messages He brings us through you. 🙂 I love the comments too . . .they help me so much!
