I Can Smile

“I smile at my enemies
because I rejoice in Your salvation.” 1 Samuel 2:1

It was good to see our youngest daughter smile again after a recent time of seizures.

Lord, we desire to walk, talk, pray and sing like the saved. And here’s a simple poem . . .

All Bow Down

When the enemy attacks
I can forget who I am
one of the saved, the redeemed
blood bought by Him.

Thanks for reminding me
I’m more than a conqueror in You
and though the enemy stomps around
he must bow down too.

  1. really love that last part!

  2. and though the enemy stomps around… he must bow down too! Yes!
Praise God we can stand on His faithful promises… blessings to your
    little one, with healing.

  3. God bless you, for-Him-fireball, as you smile today! 🙂 Love your blog!

  4. Thank you so much, our faith-filled-fisherlady, for your blessings and prayers. You help me to smile too! 🙂
God bless you and keep you today!

  5. Debbie, I liked this poem, but have to admit, I have no enemies… it’s a worldview thing. Still, great stuff! Amy

  6. God bless you Debbie.
You are a good mama and that is a very good thing to be!

  7. Wonderful – starting my day with a smile, thanks to you!

  8. I smile that you have no enemies, Amy! Here I was thinking more of satan, who is the enemy of God and all God’s children. 🙂
God bless you as you love all around you today!

  9. What a great way to put it Debbie 🙂 Blessings!

  10. “…When the enemy attacks
    I can forget who I am…”

More than once, I’ve thought, “If we’re on the winning team, I’d hate to see what it’s like on the losing one.”

  11. Beautiful! This is just beautiful!

  12. The attitude of your heart both convicts me and touches me so deeply. I am praying for you and your daughter as soon as I click on “post comment”!

  13. This is good Deb! Your daughter is one of several children we are praying for with seizure disorder. This enemy is under your feet. He just doesn’t know it yet.

  14. Hero, you are the kindest soul! 🙂 Thanking God for your wonderful imagination that creates smiles for us all as you write! 🙂
    God bless you too!

  15. We have lots to smile about, don’t we? 🙂 God bless you as He keeps and covers you, and smiles right back!

  16. Thank you for being here, sweet Eden! That’s enough to make me smile right there! God bless you, your family and your photography!

  17. Great comment, Larry! 🙂 And I’m glad I’m not the only one. So thankful when some of those times come unexpectedly and knock the prayer out of me, that others are able to keep praying.
God bless you, as you win with Him each day.

  18. Thank you for the encouragement, Buddah! 🙂 God bless you as you smile with Him today!

  19. Wonderful woman of the Word . . .you touch me! Thank you so much for your prayers. Today she was just not doing so good. I kept watching her and so far so good! God bless you and your tender heart that is led to pray!
    love you!

  20. I am so, so blessed, as is our daughter! Wow! What an wonderful body of believers God has formed, that joins together in prayer and praise.
God bless you and yours, Pastor J!

  21. Another heartfelt one Deb. I’m still praying for you and yours.

When faced with problems and attacks from the devil it is easy to “forget” that all the resources of heaven are at our disposal, waiting for us to call out in faith. Our humanity surfaces and we cry “Why me!?”

Then, with such love and tenderness, our heavenly Father chides us and reminds us that we are His treasures: His blood-bought, adopted children for whom He gave His all . . . and He increases our faith and reveals to us His plans and shows us the way to go, and He gives us His victory.

    What an amazing God!

  22. I love how you put that . . “.all the resources of heaven are at our disposal, waiting for us to call out in faith.” Praying to do that with you, more and more!
God bless you, dear Angela, as you serve and call out to our amazing God! and thank you for your prayers!

  23. I just love the heart the Lord gave you…how it glows in every post you write. It ministers to me…convicts me often for allowing mine to wax cold. It encourages m eat the same time that the Lord is still capable of transforming hearts in this day and age…you help me to see that with God all things are possible…even my heart CAN be more like His.

I know that we are close to the same age, but there is a part of me that is still just a little kid…wants to hang out in a safe cheerful kitchen where I don’t have to be the mom…where someone else could be the mom and I could just help her make cookies. If that were possible I would want to be in your kitchen. 🙂

  24. I’m praying for you and your daughter this morning.

  25. Okay . . .that is enough to make me cry. Thank you for such a beautiful statement as that and for being my safe place too. I need you in my kitchen . . .for real. You’ve got skills! 🙂
love you, dear woman of the Word! Praying your Sunday is blessed and the Algebra causes no pain today.

  26. THANK YOU! We have really felt everyone’s prayers and what looked like she was headed into her fourth time of seizures this month . . .was stopped. yippee and praising Him! And thanking you and all the pray-ers out there! God hears you and He answers!
    love you!

  27. Deb, What a great verse to focus on in this chapter! It’s not one I remembered from reading Samuel, but I think it is a good one to memorize. Love the poem – a great reminder that we will have enemies and they will attack, but we will prevail because of His salvation. 🙂 Peace, Linda

  28. Yet another benefit of salvation! I thought maybe I was just being lazy to grab a verse right at the start of the chapter. 🙂 But nothing else spoke to me as much as that one did. I’m glad that you liked it too!
God bless you as you focus on Him and smile!
