Love Suffers

“Love suffers long and is kind.” 1 Corinthians 13:4

Love . . .suffers.

Thank You, Lord, for showing me what love is and what it does. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Love Shows

The ad shows diamonds
beaches, beds
muscles, curves, skin
long lingering looks
excitement
while

a rejected cornerstone
Golgotha, nails
stripped, torn flesh, blood
hanging long hours
shows
love.

  1. wow

i didnt catch the juxtapose at first.
very nice and so ,so true.

  2. From the love of the flesh to the love of God…good contrast.

  3. I had to think for a bit about what juxtapose meant. haha! So much for my poetry skills.
God bless you, hero, and your family!

  4. The poem needs work. His love though, is perfect! πŸ™‚ God bless you Larry, as you live and love for Him!

  5. gosh I got it and it is perfect! Very powerful contrast of the verse, God’s ways are different than our ways… Open our eyes Lord that we might see You…thanks Deb for sharing your heart

  6. God bless you, faith-filled fisherlady! When I post each day, the poems don’t get much revision time. haha! I think this one needs some more work. But that He loved us so much that He suffered for us, that is the important thing to see! Praying with you for open eyes to see Him.

  7. The flesh and the spirit – always at war, always at variance.

The word ‘love’ is degraded and bandered about so much these days and has no real meaning when used by so many people.

True love? Certainly shown at Golgotha! Certainly put into real action by our Saviour.

The contrast is clearly shown in your ‘simple poem’

    What amazing love!
    What an amazing Saviour!

  8. Thank you, dear mentor Angela. Such a beautiful chapter in Corinithians. Everyone loves it. And I pick love suffers. Go figure. ha!
God bless you and love on you today, like only He can!

  9. Deb, I’ve been looking forward to what you would do with “the Love chapter” and then was too busy last week to read it! I love your poem, with its comparison of what ads tell us is love and what real love looks like. Simply beautiful! Peace, Linda

  10. The Love chapter is one of those I just want to post as is, all of it! ha! I can get caught up in the beautiful part of love, the son shiny feel good down to my toes. Nothing wrong with that, but I guess He wanted me to remember that love is made of stronger stuff.
God bless you and how real His love is shown through you.

  11. Woah Debs…. I super like this. It is my fav post of the year…. How so often we forget what true love really is and fall for the world’s distorted definition. Perfect love casts out fear while imperfect love brings much fear (for example, love which drives people to change themselves according to the one they want to please for fear of losing them). really love this one! Blessings and love, Rita

  12. Thank you Debbie. One is the antithesis of the other! I’m so glad I know what real love is and does! What a mighty God we serve!

God bless you, as you show His love to others today.

    Paulette

  13. Thank you so much, dear Praising Paulette! Yes, that is what grabbed me, “one is the antithesis of the other.” God bless you as you live out His love in real ways today! Thank you for showing us Jesus!

  14. God bless you, dear surrendered to His love Rita! Thank you for adding about how perfect love casts out fear . . .yes! love and prayers!

  15. The whole 4th section of my book is about my sojourn to God via Jesus. You say more in one poem than I do in 20. πŸ™‚ Thanks – mosk

  16. Buddah, I will check out your book! I just saw it on the side today and wanted to ask you about it. πŸ™‚ So funny, I wish I could write longer, more poetic poems . . .but that’s just not what’s coming out of me! God bless you and your journey deeper and nearer to Him!

  17. This is so beautiful Deb. We kept on looking for love as ‘advertised’ that we tend to overlook the love on the cross — realized πŸ™‚

  18. It looks different there on the cross, doesn’t it? God bless you, sweet spoon, as you find love in Him today!
