“I have become all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.” 1 Corinthians 9:22
“Now this I do for the gospel’s sake, that I may be partaker of it with you.” 1 Corinthians 9:23

When we baked apple pies for dad to take to a party, there was one with a small piece removed. My daughter couldn’t resist partaking of the goodies she’d share.

Lord, thank You for the privilege of not only getting to share Your gospel, but partake of it too! And here is a simple poem . . .

As we share the gospel
it infuses us

and we are overtaken
with the life of Jesus

and by His sacrifice
we identify

with each soul
for whom He’s crucified.

  1. “I have become all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.” 1 Corinthians 9:22

This sounds easy until you consider how hard it is to carry out. In Paul’s day, it meant he tried to find a way to fit in with the Jews, the God fearers, the pagans and weak Christians without bowing his knee in agreement with them.

For us, it would mean fitting in with about 30,000 different Christian denominations and movements without necessarily agreeing with them.

But if Paul found a way to do it, so can we. It would mean dying to our standing and reputation in any single one stream of Christianity so that we can see more people enjoy a relationship with Jesus.

  2. More dying to ourselves seems to be a constant theme for everything that we do. 🙂 Thanks Larry!
God bless you as you do all you can to see others have a relationship with Jesus.

  3. >> “I have become all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.” 1 Corinthians 9:22

Deb, this is a wonderful verse with great meaning and challenge and you have used it well.

However, it is so sad that some people take it out of context and use it to excuse wrong behaviour. I see compromise as one of the devil’s main tools today, but this verse gives no licence to compromise. We cannot reach anyone with the truth when we compromise THE truth.

  4. Thank you so much, mentor Angela, for addressing that! It’s like Larry said, not easy to carry out. To be all things . . .sinners who have been redeemed. To not compromise the Truth . ..
God bless you, and how you live out this verse!

  5. Deb
This past week, when my parents had the crisis of grace, and almost ended their marriage, it was just such a shock, but it caused me to think, how much do we assume, We sometimes prepare the gospel up for everyone else, yet leave ourselves unattended. So tonight, at the dinner table I went over the entire sacrifice of Jesus, and his Grace for us to our daughters, to make sure that they understood that their sins were covered by the blood of Christ. I don’t know why, but Aub taking the piece of pie made me think of that. God bless. Jim

  6. Jim, this is so wonderful! Yes . . .how much do we assume as we reach out to others, sure we and ours are doing good and understand. It’s for us too! Smiling that Aub taking that piece of pie made you think. 🙂 It made me think too!
God bless you as you live and give His grace!

  7. This post made me smile, especially picturing Aubrey eating that little slice of pie. 🙂 Peace, Linda

  8. Oops! ha! I figured his friends would (maybe) understand. 🙂 The pans came back empty, so that was a good sign.
God bless you and keep you smiling today!
