By Hearing

“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
Romans 10:17

What I hear the most is what I will have faith in.

Lord, may Your words echo in our ears long after we hear them. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Not So Secret Recipe

Here’s the word, My children
the ingredient faith’s made of

listen to it, absorb it
share it with love.

Whatever you hear contrary
will eat at your soul

but lend your ears to the word
and watch your faith grow.

  1. So true Deb…

And …. God’s Word is a “seed”… watch over it, water it and tend to it… with the right conditions, water, sunlight and nourishment it will surely GROW!

And He is our Gardener…watching over us, watering us, tending to us… if we respond… we will surely grow in our Most Holy Faith.
    It’s so amazing!

    Blessings Susan.

  3. Yes, I agree, and that’s how He grows on me. πŸ™‚
God blessed us all. Peace, UT

  4. Yes, what we hear and fill our minds with is what we become. To be like Jesus we must hear His words and fill our minds with them.

  5. I love the growing/garden analogy! It is amazing . . .like our God! God bless you and the growing faith He is nurturing in you today! You are like a Sonflower! πŸ™‚
love and prayers! Will e-mail soon!

  6. God bless you, Patricia, as you listen to Him today. πŸ™‚ Something about this verse had me thinking that true hearing is only when we do hear His word.

  7. Thank you so much for reblogging! God bless you and your faith in Jesus! πŸ™‚

  8. God bless you, Uncle Tree, and all that He is growing and doing in you! πŸ™‚ Thank you for stopping by!

  9. “What I hear the most is what I will have faith in…”

This is why the Bible states: “Take care what you listen to…(Mark 4:24)

  10. Thanks, Deb

“Lord, may Your words echo in our ears long after we hear them.”
I love this prayer! Thank you for sharing. I’m a praying!

I’m sitting here trying to recall some instructions that were given to me and I am having info coming back in bits and pieces. What a wonderful way to pray that we will hear His words echoing “… in our ears long after we hear them.”

May our hearts find rest in the echoes of His love.

Have a fabulous day! Blessings in abundance over and over again!
    ann

  11. I think there is a little children song based on that too. πŸ™‚ ‘be careful little ears what you hear / for the Father up above / is looking down in love / so be careful little ears what you hear.”
God bless you, Larry, as you hear Him in His word and through prayer and fellowship with others today!

  12. Oh Ann full of grace . . .what a beautiful prayer from you! That our hearts find rest in the echoes of His love! You poet you! πŸ™‚
Thank you so much for your prayers for our day. I am blessed!
God bless you, sweet friend, and be with you, strong and sure.

  13. “Listen, absorb it, and share it with love.” And LOVE was the most important value to Jesus, so it comes full circle. This is a lovely reminder, Debbie, of all the opportunities we have to share our love each day… Beautiful. Amy

  14. Thank you, Amy, for living your faith and loving others! πŸ™‚ God bless you as you hear Him and share Him today!

  15. I saw Lady Gaga on The View, all dressed in Chanel with pretty blond hair and she seemed like a nice girl to me.

Bought the album, listened, and found that my thoughts were touched instantly. “What I hear the most is what I will have faith in.” I think that explains alot about kids today, and everyone…

  16. >> “but lend your ears to the word
    and watch your faith grow”

Fill my eyes, O my God, with a vision of the cross
    and
Fill my ears, O my God, with Your true Word.

We CANNOT grow without our daily “Bread”.
We cannot know His will unless we know His mind and we cannot know His mind unless we feed on His Word.

When we know His Word we will also “share it with love” because we know that if others are to enjoy the relationship we have with our Saviour, it will be when they receive the Word and the Holy Spirit takes that Word and gives them understanding and faith to believe.

May we always give priority to reading and meditating on His Word and to sharing it with others.

  17. Oh Linda . . .your comment says it all so well. It hit me harder hearing this through you and your experience. Thank you. Yesterday I kept hearing my own thoughts about a matter . . .and kept feeling worse and worse, because I needed to hear Him and His thoughts. I can be one of those “everyone’s”. Praying to hear His word better today, and not my own.
God bless you and the wisdom He gives you! Thank you for sharing it with us!!!

  18. Thank you, dear mentor Angela, for your words that are based on His Word, that strengthens our faith. πŸ™‚ Praying with you to give His Word priority over my life and trusting Him for opportunities to share it and watch others come to faith too!
God bless you as you grow and grow, and feed others too!

  19. Hi Debbie,

Another wonderful nugget of wisdom! It is so important that we guard the gates to our and souls; our eyes and ears, and to develop our faith by hearing the Word of God. “Lord, may Your words echo in our ears long after we hear them.” Amen!

    God bless you!

    Paulette

  20. I love that, Paulette, about guarding the gates to our souls. We do have some control over what we hear at times. May it be His word that we choose when we can!
God bless you and your precious faith fed on His word! You bless us!

  21. Deb, I love that His recipe is not a secret one! Listen to His word and our faith will grow! πŸ™‚ Peace, Linda

  22. What can get easier than that? And you know I like me a simple recipe! πŸ™‚
God bless you and your faith that grows and shows!

  23. Its important to read and hear the Word of God. What a great promise. If we but hear the Word we will receive faith. What more could you ask for?

  24. Thank you for that encouraging comment and question . . .what more could you ask for? πŸ™‚ You got me! ha! God bless you wisejunction as you read and hear His Word today! thank you for being here!

  27. Hi Deb

    Enjoyed your post.I’ll be back

  28. Yes it is true, faith comes by hearing and hearing the Word of God, it may sound crazy but our ears is the mouth to our spirit and soul and that is how we feed ourselves with the bread of God, which is the holy word, God bless all of you and that may keep using your lives for others. Lets remember that his coming is near and we must be ready as the harvest.

  29. Thanks for your post Deb, I love seeing poetry infused with faith. I can see you are meditating and absorbed in Christ. Love that line. This is prophetic in the sense that it is causing me to act as I am sure it does many others!

  30. Thank you so much! God bless you and all He speaks to you today. πŸ™‚ I’m away this weekend, but am looking forward to checking out your blog when I get to stay home!

  31. Thank you for such a wonderful comment and for stopping by! I love what you said about our ears being the mouth to our spirit and soul. πŸ™‚ That is what kept capturing me about this . . .hearing by the word of God. It seemed like only true hearing is done when His word enters us.
God bless you and yours as you live and listen for Him!

  32. This is so true. What a profound and precious prayer:

“Lord, may Your words echo in our ears long after we hear them.”

Another petition according to His will…

“4For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. ” Romans 15:4

    Thank you, Deb.

    Love, Theresa

  33. Thank you for teaching us about that, how He always answers those kind of prayers! πŸ™‚ God bless you as you honor His word and let it flow in and out of you today!
    love you!

  34. Here is just one more! πŸ™‚

“But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.” John 14:26

    Love, Theresa

  35. yay! You have been a busy lady today here! πŸ™‚ I am so blessed by you. Please take care and know that you are loved!

  36. God bless you B, as you marinate in His word, hearing what He desires you to hear. My apologies for missing your comment when it came in. 😦 Praying for your faith to grow and grow.
