Mightily Upon Us

“When he came to Lehi, the Philistines came shouting against him. Then the Spirit of the Lord came mightily upon him, and the ropes that were on his arms became like flax that is burned with fire, and his bonds broke loose from his hands.” Judges 15:14

God had planned for Samson before he was conceived or born. And for each of us as well.

Lord, we thank You for the power of Your Holy Spirit that breaks the bonds that hold us down and sets us free to live for You. And here’s a simple poem . . .

When The Spirit Comes

When the Spirit
comes upon us mightily
there is nothing that can stop
what happens next.

Bonds are broken
and prisoners are set free
the saved sing hallelujah
and dance.

  1. Thank you, Deb

“God had planned for Samson before he was conceived or born. And for each of us as well.”

I am generally very thankful for the way you write but lately, you seem to be writing from within our home. πŸ™‚ It makes me very excited that God can use from across the miles to speak / write exactly what I need to hear when I need it.

God bless you. I am thankful that He looses chains and bonds from us. I am also thankful that He binds the broken-hearted. I am also very thankful that He is able to bind up principalities and powers and anything that seeks to hold us down. I am thankful!!

May He continue to move mightily on you!

    Blessings,
    ann

  2. …And here’s a simple poem …

Are you planning on putting these devotions in a book?

  3. I am so thankful for you too, Ann full of grace, as our posts and prayers and comments keep inter-linking. More of His plans. πŸ™‚
God bless you and all that He is planning to break and to bind up in your life today!

  4. Oh Larry . . .once I thought that was what I should do. Get “published”. But not so much now. I do send poems out to places occasionally . .. more as a desire to support the journal or people behind it. What I would like to do is somehow put together little books of these myself, and give as gifts. I haven’t taken the time yet to figure out how to do that and make it look somewhat nice. ha!
God bless you and thank you for your support and encouragement!

  5. Deb, What a wonderful prayer, which I echo this day:

Lord, we thank You for the power of Your Holy Spirit that breaks the bonds that hold us down and sets us free to live for You.

What an awesome God we serve! Thank you for sharing about the power of His Holy Spirit today. Peace, Linda

  6. I have some ideas so I will get back to you in the future.

  7. First – are those new categories on your sidebar? All organized and such. Or had I just not seen them before?

Second, I don’t think I’ve said this before – I heart how the way you approach the Bible here – different than I do. I really think they complement each other – at least for me. When I read you and what you write it’s different – and really refreshing for me – from the way I read, and think, and write. Does that make sense? Anyway – the point is I really heart that!

And today – how you went from the bonds being loosed to how the Holy Spirit looses our bonds – I thought that was magnificent. And that and the poem make me think about how I don’t concentrate on that part of my faith enough – that so many of the spiritual bonds have been lifted – and that I should live in that truth better. I heart that too! So – thank you Deb – and God bless you as always my friend

  8. God bless you Linda, as you pray and let His Spirit move in you today . . .for all to see! πŸ™‚

  9. hey . ..you were suppose to be resting today, under Laska’s care. πŸ™‚ Oh ya . . .there was that oooooohhhhh shiny part at the end, wasn’t there? ha!
I too appreciate each person’s uniqueness in Him, and how they handle scripture or life or the hard stuff. It all helps me, so I get more exposure to His word and His people and all the ways He works.
Oh . . .sorry. That category part over there is just set up by this blog design. I did nothing. ha!
God bless you as you keep living in His truth , by His Spirit, each day!

  10. Hi Debbie,

I’m so glad to be filled with the Holy Spirit! It is my Paraclete, my keeper, and my comforter. “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost comes upon you.” The Holy Spirit gives us the power to walk right, the power to live right, and the power to be witnesses for the Lord. The Holy Spirit destroys every yoke of bondage in our lives, and yes the captives are set free! Thank God!

My spirit was stirred, as I read your post. Thanks again, Debbie! God bless you!

    Paulette

  11. Amen… singing and dancing in my heart (as I am at office lol) but it sure got me smiling. I am free!! For who the Son sets free is free indeed! What a blessing. The Lord has been speaking much about the Holy Spirit to me. So much so, He even led someone to gift me a book on the Holy Spirit πŸ™‚ … to see this post today only ignites my excitement!
Thanks for being a blessing…. love, hugs and the goodness of the Lord upon you and yours always, Rita

  12. Your comment makes me dance and sing too! Love that excitement for Jesus and how He is leading you! πŸ™‚ God bless you as your heart dances with His today!

  13. “When the Spirit
    comes upon us mightily
there is nothing that can stop
    what happens next.”

Oh how irresistible His grace truly can be! πŸ™‚

    Love,
    Theresa

  14. Oh I love the way you put that Theresa! πŸ™‚ God bless you and bathe you in His irresistible grace today!
    love and prayers!
