How Comfort Works

“And they brought the young man in alive, and they were not a little comforted.” Acts 20:12

After falling from a three story window to his death, this young man was brought back to life. So they weren’t just a little comforted. They were greatly comforted!

Lord, we thank You for the comfort we all receive each time someone is given new life in You. And here’s a simple poem . . .

We All Receive

Life is given
to another
blessings poured out
one by one
and it is we
who are comforted
as if to us
it was done.

  1. Thank you, Deb

I am not a little comforted this morning πŸ˜‰ Doesn’t always seem like it’s going to work in our favour but the Comforter knows what’s best.

So thankful the final word is His and that He does what He says He will do.

How wonderful it is when we can rejoice together for the blessings He’s poured out on another. We are truly one body.

    Blessings much,

  2. That’s the power of testimony isn’t it? How the thanksgiving of another brings us closer to God is an awesome thing! Thanks πŸ™‚

  3. It truly is a wonderful thing. Thank you for reminding me of that. πŸ™‚

  4. I am trusting with you that He does indeed see us and knows what is best, even when we aren’t seeing what we want to see. Aren’t feeling the comfort that we’d like to.
I know He comforts me when I am around and read about or hear about loving believing families, worshiping and serving Him together, even though that is not my own reality. It blesses me sooo much.
God bless you, Ann full of Jesus grace, for the beautiful part of the body you are and the way He comforts us through you!

  5. Yes! It’s a God thing! πŸ™‚ God bless you, Pastor J, for sharing your testimony and bringing us closer to Him!

  6. God bless you today, wonderful woman of the Word, and bring you comfort and peace!
    love you!

  7. His comfort does often come through the joy of others in His family.

  8. God bless you, dear Patricia, and bring you comfort through the joy of others and plenty of your own! πŸ™‚

  9. It’s always good to remember the healing gifts of God, especially if your preaching has put someone to sleep and he has fallen out the window to his death.

  10. LOL! Thank you , Larry. My somber mood has now lifted. πŸ™‚ God bless you, comfort you and always let you keep your sense of humor!

  11. When blessings are poured out to others, I feel my greatest joy. It’s the heart and soul of Jesus’ message of unconditional love. Thanks for this, Debbie, it really helped my soul today! Amy

  12. Amy, that is so like you! And thank you for showing us how that is tied into unconditional love. πŸ™‚ Now who has helped who here??? ha!
God bless you and fill you with joy!

  13. Hi Debbie,

It’s wonderful to be able to celebrate the blessings of others, as well as to be comforted by this fact! Not only will we find comfort, but we will be greatly comforted! We serve an awesome God!

    Thank you for sharing, Debbie!

  14. Dear Paulette, I would LOVE to celebrate and be comforted by you being blessed with healing. And your heart and mind are so healed and whole in Him, that I DO get to celebrate and be comforted by what He pours out on you and through you. You are a priceless treasure to Him and to us.
God bless you as you comfort us in His love and praises today!

  15. Hi Debbie,

Thank you so much! You truly touched my heart! Right now, my heart is overwhelmed! Thank you for your kindness, your support, and your friendship! I am blessed beyond measure, because the Lord allowed our paths to cross! You are a treasure to the body of Christ, and you allow His love to shine through you so brightly! Thank you again, Debbie! God bless you!

  16. The Master Himself said it is more blessed to give than to receive, and when we give comfort or counsel to another or when we pause in our busy lives to help another, WE receive a greater blessing from His hands.

  17. That is a great comfort, to be able to help someone else! That happened to me just recently, where the receiver wanted to give back to me somehow and I tried to explain that she already had, that God had worked this all out. πŸ™‚
God bless you, Angela, and all the comfort you receive and give out!
