Growing and Prevailing

“So the word of the Lord grew mightily and prevailed.” Acts 19:20

The word of the Lord, being alive, is growing . . .and being true, is overcoming all which is false.

Thank You Lord, for Your mighty prevailing word! And here’s a simple poem . . .

The Growing Word

The word grows mightily
and prevails

a double-edged sword
it’s truth foretells

strength and encouragement
for the weary and weak

the Way and the Life
for all those who seek.

  1. Deb, this is eerily spot on with respect to personal challenge that has come up. I love how the Holy Spirit works this way and am so thankful for your faithfulness to what He gives you! 🙂

  2. Thanks, Deb 🙂

Yesterday He challenged me to listening to Him on hearing and speaking. Today I believe He’s challenging me to speak the Word!! – regardless. 😉

Blessings much and thanks for being His channel 🙂

  3. Great Debbie!! And like all living things, we must tend to the Word daily for it to continue to grow and flourish. Otherwise it withers and dies in our lives.

  4. I love when He does that too! You encourage me so much to keep at this simple blog! God bless you, Angel A, as you grow and prevail, full of His word!

  5. God bless you, Ann full of Jesus grace! Praying with you as He challenges and then helps you meet each one through Him. What a beautiful work is being done in you! love it and love you! 🙂

  6. What a great reminder, Ted! Thank you! It makes me think about a quote that goes something like “if it isn’t growing, it’s dead”.
God bless you as you flourish in His care today!

  7. Interesting enough, at the end of Chapter 19, there are riots, which also goes along with the word of the Lord growing mightily. In Mark 4:17…”affliction and persecution arises because of the word…”

  8. Thank you, Larry! I love the insight that you always bring, to help us know Him more. 🙂 It is like the two go hand in hand. Thinking of the persecuted church in China, growing and prevailing.
God bless you, Larry, as He mightily moves in your life!

  9. This is a great poem. Both the message and word choices were really good. Thank you so much for sharing it!

  10. God bless you, wonderful woman of the Word! I’m so glad that you are here to motivate me and stand with me, growing and prevailing in Jesus. 🙂
    love and prayers!

  11. “Overcoming all which is false”… the reverse of what Satan would like us to believe. I’ve come to understand the value of truth, too.

Thanks for another good one! Hugs… : )

  12. He keeps showing me little lies that I’ve believed that simply aren’t true. So thankful that His Word is truth and trumps those lies every time!
God bless you and your love of the Truth, Jesus!
    love ya!

  13. >> “The Way and the Life for all who seek”

So true! And those of us who know the Way and the Life need to be more earnest to spread the Truth to reach those who don’t while there is still time.

  14. Thank you, dear Angela, for doing all you can to spread the truth and encouraging us to do the same!
God bless you as you carry and pass on Jesus to the next generations! You always inspire me!

  15. Deb, Awesome poem! I love how it covers both the Truth of the Word, as the double-edged sword, and the comfort of the Word for those who seek Him. His Word is convicting to our souls when we are wrong or sin, but that is only for our own good that we might see what is better, the blessing He has in store for us. Peace, Linda

P.S. Catching up again! Missed reading your blog while I was in Austin, but there just wasn’t time. 🙂

  16. You are such a lover of the Truth , of Jesus, and it shows so much in what you write and how you comment. It just pours out of you. 🙂 I knew you wouldn’t be able to read and comment. And honestly, you probably needed a little break from it! ha! So glad you had the time away and also equally glad to have you back, keeping me going!
    God bless you!
