Chosen Vessels

“Then Ananias answered, ‘Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how much harm he has done to Your saints in Jerusalem, and here he has authority from the chief priests to bind all who call on Your name.
But the Lord said to him, ‘Go, for he is a chosen vessel of Mine to bear My name before the Gentiles, kings and the children of Israel’.” Acts 9:13-15

Ananias might have chosen a different vessel than Saul of Tarsus.

Lord, we desire to be the vessels You’ve chosen us to be, bearing Your name to those we are placed among and to those You send us to. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Often those that run
away the furthest
turn and run
the farthest for You
authentic vessels
who aren’t afraid
to carry Your name
and do what You want.

  1. Great post! I am glad that the Lord chooses the vessels, not us. And it does seem that those who have hated Him the most sometimes end up serving Him the most faithfully. Thanks for the reminder!

  2. Thanks, Deb

    Wonderful piece!

“Lord, we desire to be the vessels You’ve chosen us to be, bearing Your name to those we are placed among and to those You send us to.”
I’m thankful too that He’s the one who chooses! Samuel would never have anointed David if it had been left up to those who look through human eyes…

Praying I’ll always allow Him to choose through me.

  3. Thanks. I identify with this one.

  4. Like Ananias, I often need reminding not to place my judgement on the worthiness of the vessel God chooses.

  5. Thank God that He accepts the disobedient “runner” as well as the obedient son. How many times I have turned tail and fled but God has been faithful to turn me back! Thanks for posting this encouraging word

  6. It does seem that way . . .like those that have been forgiven much are more forgiving. God bless you, Ben, as you serve Him faithfully!

  7. I love that reference to David, Ann full of grace! Thank you! God bless you and all He pours through you!

  8. I’m so glad! πŸ™‚ God bless you, Larry, for being who He has called you to be.

  9. He does see things differently than we do, doesn’t He? πŸ™‚ God bless you as He uses you today!

  10. God bless you, Pastor J, for each time you turn back to Him . .and more and more people are blessed through you. πŸ™‚

  11. True to most — the content of the vessel that has been cracked and made whole again by the Lord is now offered for the Lord. I am cracked and blessed πŸ™‚

  12. I love that, cracked and blessed! Me too, sweet Rea Son Shine! love you!
