A Great Joy

“Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria and preached Christ to them.” Acts 8:5
“And there was great joy in that city.” Acts 8:8

Where there is Jesus, there is joy.

Thank You, Lord, for filling us with the joy of Yourself! And here’s a simple poem . . .

Jesus Joy

The lame walk
and the paralyzed stand

demons cry
and come out of a man

the Word is preached
and the Spirit flows

Jesus is alive
and, my, how it shows!

  1. Philip went down to Samaria because he had to, not necessarily because he wanted to. Saul’s persecution forced people like Philip to take up a traveling ministry. And with that, a revival was started in Samaria which brought joy to many.

    Great post.

  2. Beautiful words! Joy does follow Christ.

  3. Thanks, Deb πŸ™‚

    “Jesus is alive
    and, my, how it shows!”

“Thank You, Lord, for filling us with the joy of Yourself! ”

    Hallelujah! πŸ™‚ ( I feel a dance coming on!!)

  4. I love how you bring a light to the word that I don’t always think of! More evidence of God working and how the Word spread. Saul was even being used then, in a way, causing more areas to be blessed!
God bless you as you take His word where He wills!

  5. Kind of like an extra thrown in, huh? πŸ™‚ God bless you, Ted, and the joy of your photography!

  6. I’m smiling big time here, Ann full of Jesus joy and grace! God bless you as you dance and sing to Him!

  7. “Where there is Jesus, there is joy.”
Ha, He knows I need to hear this right now! Thank you Deb πŸ™‚

  8. I think I need to stick it on my forehead. πŸ™‚ God bless you and bring out the joy! love you!

  9. Deb, Rea already picked out the perfect line of this post: “Where there is Jesus, there is joy.” No matter our circumstances, He brings joy! Peace, Linda

P.S. I’m way behind, trying to get caught up.

  10. Those two go together, don’t they? Jesus Joy! πŸ™‚
Linda . . .why don’t you just not try to go through everything on here? I won’t be offended . . .completely understand. Am going to be in the same boat and don’t think I can go back and read everyone for the 2 weeks I’ve missed!!! ha!
God bless you and thank you!

  11. Deb, Because I love your poetry and hate to miss even one day as you go through a book of the Bible. But I will likely get behind again because I’ll be in Austin, TX all next week with my sister. πŸ™‚ Peace, Linda

  12. Praying for blessings during your Texas/sister week! πŸ™‚
