The Sound of Understanding

“And when the sound occurred, the multitude came together, and were confused, because everyone heard them speak in his own language.” Acts 2:6

The multitude was not expecting to be ministered to in such a personal way.

Thank You, Lord, for talking to us in ways we understand. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Our Own Language

With a rush of wind
and a mighty sound

tongues of fire came

that each might hear
and understand

to the glory of His name.

  1. THanks Deb, I am so grateful that God has promised to give wisdom to thos who seek it. I am pretty “thick” sometimes and some of the things He has taught me He has had to patiently reveal over years. What the mighty rushing wind won’t do in a moment, His still small voice will accomplish over time. I am thankful He speaks my language!

  2. Deb, Love your poem! So simple but it says something so important. God is awesome and He wants everyone to understand. If that requires causing His witnesses to speak in languages they don’t know, then that is what He will do! He truly does want none to perish, but all to come to repentence in Him. Peace, Linda

  3. Thank you, Deb!

Sometimes it’s the wind, sometimes it’s the fire … sometimes it’s the still small voice – either way, we can hear and understand.

Sometimes I feel like the wind against the cliffs … over time, it wears it down….

I always hear. I don’t always listen 😦 Sometimes I get it right away ant then it’s the constant knocking that causes me to sit up and take notice.

Thank you so much for sharing, Deb. This speaks volumes!

    Blessings,
    ann

  4. As I read this I remembered something…I think I have been inspred to write something. Thank you. πŸ™‚

  5. I am thick too! Thankful with you that He still speaks to us, knowing what to say and how we hear best! And even repeats messages too.
God bless you, Pastor J, and the way He speaks to us through you as well!

  6. I love where you took this, Linda . . .His desire that none should perish. πŸ™‚ God bless you and your understanding today!

  7. “I always hear. I don’t always listen.” This is me too, Ann full of Jesus grace. But I want to and I know that He wants me to too, and is making Himself available to me in ways I will understand.
God bless you as He speaks to you today!

  8. God bless you, wonderful woman of the Word, and all the wonderful ways you understand what He is saying, and share it with us!
