“Therefore take diligent heed to yourselves, that you love the Lord your God.” Joshua 23:11
“Or else, if indeed you go back, and cling to the remnant of these nations – these that remain among you – and make marriages with them, and go in to them and they to you,” Joshua 23:12
“know for certain that the Lord your God will no longer drive out these nations from before you . . .” Joshua 23:13
Turning away from God can be disastrous.
Oh Lord, let any turning I do be toward You. And here’s a simple poem . . .
Diligently Yours
We love You Lord
and wish to stay
only Yours
day after day
bowing down
to Holy You
the One Who’s for us
and ever true.
This was beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing it.
Love,
Theresa
“Or else, if indeed you go back, and cling to the remnant of these nations…”
Sadly, throughout history, Christianity has returned again and again to the ways of the world and its nations that the believers live in. So far, we believers have not (yet) become “…a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation…”, but who knows? Maybe we are the generation that will fulfill the destiny of 1 Peter 2: 9.
One can only pray and hope.
I loved “bowing down/to Holy You.” A nice turn of phrase, and so true for believers!
Peace and a hug, Amy
Yes it’s a narrow path… it is a test what we will choose… who we will choose to follow… and we have to learn wisdom and discernment. So many voices and distractions to lead astray… we have to keep our faces towards the things of God…for what we look at is where we will head towards!
Blessings from Susan.
Thank you, Deb
“Turning away from God can be disastrous.”
Warnings aplenty yet mankind doesn’t always yield … π¦
Praying alongside you.
Blessings,
ann
God bless you, our wonderful woman of the Word, and all the ways you acknowledge Him! love you!
Larry, I love your hope and prayer. π That is something that we can do as we keep loving Him.
God bless you as you cling to Him!
God bless you, Amy, as you keep turned toward Him and living out your faith! love you!
I love your comment, Susan! Thank you! “For what we look at is where we will head towards” . . .so true and I know how it has played out in my life. It also reminds me of the horse riding advice the instructor gave one of my daughters . . .while riding a horse we need to look at where we want to go. π
God bless you on the narrow path!
So thankful He is long suffering and patient, slow to anger and merciful! And that we do get warnings. π
God bless you, Ann full of Jesus grace, as you heed Him today!
Amen! Beautifully stated. Just found your blog. Thanks and God bless. π
God bless you and yours, Ted! I really like photos and yours are amazing. Thank you for being here and for Jesus!
Hi Debbie,
God bless you! Thank you for the encouragement, to turn only toward the Lord. Surely, “Turning away from the Lord can be disastrous.”
I’m determined to walk with Jesus, yes I am! Praise God!
I love your praise and determination! God bless you as you turn to Him and worship today!
Deb, At first glance it seems overly harsh of God to not want the Israelites to intermarry with the other nations and to remain separate from them. Today this would be called intolerant. But I believe this command was given because He loved them and He knew they would so easily be deceived and led away from God if they intermingled. I pray the Holy Spirit help His believers stay focused on Him and not be led away by the unbelievers we are intermingled with. Peace, Linda
Thank you, Linda, for bringing that up. It is a fine line, but I believe that He makes a way for us, to not compromise Him. It’s just that in today’s world . . .and most likely back then too . . .good gets seen as evil and evil as good.
God bless you as you keep your heart, mind and soul turned to Him.
And where shall I go if I turn back from the Lord? Shall I spend my life going to nowhere?
Thank you for the prayer poem Deb. I just had a lovely time with Him π
I did a lot of going to nowhere! Much much better going to Him!
I am so encouraged by you and your lovely time with Him!
God bless you and keep you, sweet Rea!
