Be Believing

“Then He said to Thomas, ‘Reach your finger here, and look at My hands; and reach your hand here , and put it into My side. Do not be unbelieving, but believing’.” John 20:27

The world around us grows more and more distrusting and cynical.

Thank You, Jesus, for giving us every reason to believe You and trust You. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Unless We See

Thomas wasn’t there
when You first came
he hadn’t seen for himself
the truth the others claimed.

You didn’t rebuke him
but made sure he knew as well
that You were indeed alive –
Good News to spread and tell.

  1. Thank you, Deb

β€œThank You, Jesus, for giving us every reason to believe You and trust You.”

I imagine what it might have been like in that room … to see Him alive with the same eyes that saw Him being put to death… to talk to Him, to touch Him, to have that precious time with Him.

Thankful He did not scold or rebuke Thomas. Many of us believe because we are told but others wait for a sign from Him. I am thankful He meets us at the point of our needs.

  2. Deb, This was very comforting. I love this part:

    You didn’t rebuke him
but made sure he knew as well

It reminds me of Jeremiah 29:13 – “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” Jesus wants everyone to find Him and He is not harsh with those who humbly desire to believe. Thomas wanted to believe, but he also wanted to be sure it was true that it really was Jesus. He didn’t want to be fooled. Jesus made sure Thomas knew so that he could share what he knew. Peace, Linda

  3. This poem is comforting to me….that even though some hesitate at first He will still receive them if they should believe Him before they die.

Thank you Deb for sharing this.

  4. Ann, your comment about Him meeting us at the point of our needs, is so good. Some of us are needier in different areas than others. He doesn’t expect us to all be the same. Thank you so much for all you add each time you come! More grace!
God bless you and your own precious time with Him!

  5. I love your insight about Thomas desiring to believe. You have such a great knowledge and wisdom about His word that always blesses me! Thank you! It sheds a different light on the “doubting Thomas” idea. πŸ™‚
God bless you and illuminate His word in you even more!

  6. Good points. Thanks.

  7. You are welcome, Larry. πŸ™‚ God bless you and the work you are doing for Him!

  8. Good News, Indeed!! When we become believers, we cannot keep it all to ourselves because the news is so good!!! Jesus is Risen…Amen!!
Love to you, my Deb, who is grounded in the Lord πŸ™‚

  9. I am not taking away my hands from Him and allow doubt to pull me away. Thank you so much Deb for being one of the beautiful reasons to believe Him πŸ™‚

  10. I can see you, Rea, touching and holding onto Him . . .and He doing the same with you. πŸ™‚ You give me many reasons to see Him and believe Him with your testimony and love!
God bless you as you believe Him today!

  11. You’re so right, Bee! If we believe, then we act on our beliefs. πŸ™‚
God bless you as you share the Good News in all the ways He calls you to!
    love, hugs, and prayers!
