Into His Hands

“And supper being ended, the devil having already put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray Him,
Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into His hands, and that He had come from God and was going to God,
rose from supper and laid aside His garments, took a towel and girded Himself.” John 13:2-4

I’m amazed at how focused Jesus remained on the tasks at hand, given the intensity of the situation.

Oh Lord, may I go out comforted and confident today, doing what You have given me to do for this time, knowing in the end I will be with You for eternity. And here’s a simple poem . . .

By God and of God
and from God, He came
To us and for us
because of us, He came
laying His robe
His home, His life aside
picking up our sins, our shame
back to God now, He flies.

  1. Thank you, Dear Deb

This is quite an encouragement πŸ™‚

The thought of HIm working through the process knowing what lay ahead of Him gives me hope that my world doesn’t have to go to pieces when something goes wrong.

“Oh Lord, may I go out comforted and confident today, doing what You have given me to do for this time, knowing in the end I will be with You for eternity”
Deb, this is the prayer of my heart today. Thank you so much for sharing this. Some days I forget that in the grand scheme of things, these (painful) fleeting moments are not even a drop in the bucket when compared to the joys of life forever with Him!!

God bless you, Delightful Deb. May His peace be yours today as you walk in His purpose for your life.

  2. Thanks Debbie… I needed to think about God’s purposed attention to my life while he focused on the cross.

  3. Too often what is happening in my life, the hard stuff, becomes my focus. I know He is helping me with this . . and so did you with your comment!!!
God bless you, dear Ann full of Jesus grace, as you go out today knowing where you are heading and whose you are!

  4. Oh my . . .this is a powerful thought! Thank you!
God bless you and all the ways He is focusing you for today, tomorrow and eternity.

  5. Deb, I never thought about how focused Jesus remained on His purpose before. What a wonderful perspective you have given to this verse. If it was me, and I knew Judas was going to betray me, I don’t think I would have stayed focused on the task of preparing to wash the feet of the other disciples. The word “indignation” comes to mind – but Jesus did not exhibit indignation because He was focused on the task before Him and not one what His betrayer was doing.

I love your poem today – the sets of three were so cool! Thank you for sharing this wonderful reminder to stay focused on our God – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit! Peace, Linda

  6. Like it says in Hebrews: “For the joy set before Him, He endured the cross…”
That joy was for you and me, but still He had to focus Himself on His duty and not the agony.

  7. “I’m amazed at how focused Jesus remained on the tasks at hand, given the intensity of the situation.”

Oh, Deb…..I never once considered that. I am so thankful that you share such precious things with us. The Lord has blessed you with so much insight.

  8. Love the poem … and what a great point about Christ and His focus. I often think about He came to do the will of the Father and how committed He was to that will. It is my prayer to be like Him in doing what God has created me for.

  9. Linda . . .you have me smiling at that word, “indignation”. Ya . . .I think that’s what comes to my mind more often than I’d like it to. Once again , there is something within your comment that God is using in my life. πŸ™‚ Thank you!
God bless you and all He calls you to!

  10. Larry, thank you so much for sharing the Hebrew verse. πŸ™‚ Maybe kind of like when us ladies give birth, we focus on the baby and not the pain of childbirth?
God bless you and all He asks of you today!

  11. I’m so thankful that it blesses you, dear woman of the Word! πŸ™‚ And thankful that He is so gracious to meet with me and help me see something that simple me can write about.
God bless you and keep you in His wonderful love!
    love you!

  12. Rachel, I think that you are indeed doing what He created you for! πŸ™‚ God bless you as you commit yourself to His will!

  13. My Deb,
Through your blog I remain focused on the Lord. You take Bible study and poetry to a whole new level, and I thank you for your efforts, every single day.

“Oh Lord, may I go out comforted and confident…”

It is you who comfort others with your beautiful prose.
    Love to you!

  14. Bee, you are the sweetest! Thanking Him so much for you. I know I don’t deserve you, but I’m hanging on and not letting go. haha!
It is such a small thing that I do. How wonderful for Him to take it and use it in someway, if I will just go out comforted and confident in Him, to do as He asks. Who is like our God??? πŸ™‚
Thank you, Bee, for your love, your faith , your testimony and your ministry. Your life is focused on Him and on glorifying Him. It’s beautiful to Bee-hold.

  15. Our poems have a similar message. He left streets of gold and angels around His throne that we might one day be with Him.

    “To us and for us
    because of us, He came
    laying His robe
    His home, His life aside”

    Like ’em both.

  16. Mike! Thank you for making that connection. I love when He does that!
God bless you and all the messages He sends us through you!

  17. I enjoyed rereading this poem! I love the sound of it — full of God. Deb you are a very special channel of God’s word. “how focused Jesus remained…” I first heard it from you and it elicit another praise to the Lord πŸ™‚

  18. You have such a heart for Him, Ray of Son shine . . .ever ready to praise Him! God bless you as you remain focused of Him!
    love you!
