Lying There

“When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, ‘Do you want to be made well’?” John 5:6

I’ve been here at this question for several days. In tears.

Jesus, thank You for asking us the questions no one else knows to ask. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Pool Side

By my pool
of Bethesda
the waters stir
I don’t jump in.
Am I waiting
to be carried
or to be healed
by only Him?

  1. Hard to beat the ‘living’ word of God.

  2. “Do you want to be made well?” I heard that question also from Him Deb when I had been praying for healing yet I am not following the Master Healer’s order. Sometimes, the cure is simply following…

God bless you for your healing words, always πŸ™‚

  3. Thank you for reminding us to first answer the question.

  4. Thanks Deb

Beautiful … and so real to me today!!!! One part of me wants to be carried to the pool. The other part wants to wait on Him but I don’t know just when He’ll pass by… Do I go? Or do I stay?

    Contemplative,
    ann

  5. “I’ve been here at this question for several days. In tears.”

That is a hard place. I wish I was there beside you. I am praying. I am so glad you shared this.

    Love,
    Theresa

  6. Oh yes it is! I always get stopped too, where He asks the blind man what he wants Him to do for him. Nothing like our Jesus to get to the bottom of the matter. πŸ™‚
God bless you, Mike, as His word lives in you!

  7. Rea Son Shine!!!! you’re here!!!! πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚
okay, now I can settle down a little. but not much.
I love that He asked you this too!!! And the comment means so much to me, helps me!!!!
God bless you, sweet Rea, for your healing words as well!

  8. Tammy, your comment really says so much! Thank you! God bless you and yours today!

  9. I’m so blessed that you could relate to this too, that I wasn’t being too weird. ha! Being made well may take us through the unfamiliar and into a future we can’t imagine… Another opportunity to trust Him more!
God bless you, Ann full of Jesus grace, as He makes you well! πŸ™‚

  10. Dear Theresa . . .it feels like you are here beside me each day! Truly! Sometimes His word just catches me and holds me. Makes me think and not just brush past things, leaving them untouched . . .and not really placed properly before Him. It is not as bad as it sounds, because He is good, all the time. πŸ™‚
I love you so much and covet your prayers always!!!

  11. You really floored me on this one, Miss Deb. I want to have a good cry with you! This week has been especially hard for me, too…but I find that I am consistently uplifted by my daily dose of your wonderful poetry.
How special you are to me!

This little poem has so much meaning, especially where you say “…am I waiting to be carried?”

What comes in my mind is how stubborn I am…if He came to carry me I think I might wave Him off and say “I can do it on my own!”
This may be a silly comparison, but I have a handicapped placard for my car and I never use it! I am so afraid of what someone will “think” of me because I don’t “look” handicapped.
    Stubborn, silly me πŸ™‚

I just love you, my sweet Miss Deb!!

  12. I love how He applied it to your situation, Bee. That is not a silly comparison at all. In fact, it’s a really, really good one. I am seeing where this can be a little different for each of us . . .thank you for that!!!
God bless you, precious Bee! All is well with your soul!

  13. Deb, a word of encouragement, as you seem to be leaning more on the Arms than usual… God has all sorts of ways of healing. May yours be the one you pray for. Much love, Amy

  14. Thank you, Amy. I loved how you put that, to be leaning more on the Arms. Not a bad place to be, eh? πŸ™‚ You are so right about His healing and I want healed the way He knows is best for me.
God bless you and yours and your wonderful gifts!
    love you!
