“His mother said to the servants, ‘Whatever He says to you, do it’.” John 2:5
Servants do as they are told.
O Lord, I desire to be a faithful, joyful servant of Yours. And here’s a simple poem . . .
The Servants Knew
Just servants at the party
there to wait on guests
no one paid them much attention
they went about their business
and although they didn’t know Him
they did want He asked them to
and saw the wonder of a miracle
and God’s glory shining through.
“and saw the wonder of a miracle”
Cool!
Deb, I love this: “Servants do as they are told.” That’s a good thing to remember, since we are servants of the Most High God, we need to do as we are told. Then we will see “the wonder of a miracle and God’s glory shining through.” How awesome is that? Peace, Linda
Thanks, Deb
I confess I’m not the servant I ought to be – I don’t always do what He tells me to ( especially when I know I’m right… )
What Linda says makes perfect logic but sometimes our feelings cause spiritual blindness. Thankful that He opens our eyes to the things we what we need to see 😉
Blessings,
ann
I’m trying to imagine what it must have been like for the servants to see the miracle…and be a part of the wonders of Jesus walking among them.
Oh, to have a chance to see Jesus, face to face!
I just love how your poetry produces wonderful images in my mind, Miss Deb
I am starting my day with a smile and a sense of peace 🙂
Thank you!
While I read this I was reminded of what Jesus asked the servants to do. It made me think how I might feel if someone who had authority over me asked me to do something that made absolutely no sense. Yet we are instructed to obey those who have authority over us (unless what they tell us to do is a sin), and to consider our obedience as unto the Lord. In that case something wonderful happened…but even if something disappointing to us happens as a result of our obedience we can have peace in our hearts knowing that we trusted the Lord and obeyed.
I know this comment was a little long. Thank you for sharing this great post. It really made me think. 🙂
Love,
Theresa
Oh yes it is! 🙂 Way way cool. God bless you, Mike, and all the miracles you are going to see happen because you do as He asks you to.
Way awesome, that’s how awesome! 🙂 I am praying that I understand clearly what He is asking me to do. It reminds me of like when I go to clean for the one family that I clean for. I always ask her if there is something she especially wants me to do when I’m there, other than the usual things. We know to read His word and pray . . .but Jesus what else would You really like to see me do today?
God bless you, Linda, and your servant’s heart!
Ann full of Jesus grace, I so know what you mean. It’s one of those things that sounds so simple to do, but somehow becomes unclear and hard. Sometimes I do this . . .”Was that really Jesus asking me to do that or did I just make it up?” From there, it becomes real easy to dismiss it as just me and not do it.
God bless you as He shows you what He wants you to do today . . .and helps you do it!
Your comments always make me smile! There is something special about you calling me Miss Deb. 🙂 Thank you, beautiful Bee!
I tried to imagine what that would be like too . . .and then apply it to my life now. What is He asking me to do that maybe makes no sense . . .that no one else is even going to understand?
God bless you and keep you smiling and blessed in His peace! love you!!!
I love you and your long comments. 🙂 Not too long for me at all! You have me thinking about trusting Him enough to do what is asked of me as though it were unto Him. There is something so precious in that, and so needed by me. I know He had you write that and I’m so thankful. 🙂
God bless you, woman of the Word, and all the wonderful ways He works through you!
love you!!
