Face to Face

“Now Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom, for Moses had laid his hands on him; so the children of Israel heeded him, and did as the Lord had commanded Moses.
But since then there has not risen in Israel a prophet like Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face . . .” Deuteronomy 34:9-10

What astonishing lengths God went to for His people Israel . . .and for us.

O Lord, I pray for you to raise up prophets today, who will know You and speak as You command, causing many to be turned back to You at this time. And here is a simple poem . . .

Seeing His Face

Face to face, Moses met You
and You talked, heart to heart

about Your plans for Your people
from which they’d struggle not to part

how they’d be a nation born of God
where You would set Your love

how unto them You’d send a Savior
for the whole world to see the face of.

This is the last Deuteronomy post! Tomorrow I’ll switch back to the New Testament, the Gospel According to John. Thank you so much for coming along with me through the Bible!

    I thoroughly enjoyed the journey!

“O Lord, I pray for you to raise up prophets today, who will know You and speak as You command, causing many to be turned back to You at this time. ”
    Praying alongside you Deb

  2. I am so glad the Lord went to great lengths for us. To see His face…that will really be something! There is a hymn that came to my mind. I hope it blesses you.

Face to face with Christ, my Savior,
Face to face—what will it be,
When with rapture I behold Him,
Jesus Christ Who died for me?

    Refrain

Face to face I shall behold Him,
    Far beyond the starry sky;
Face to face in all His glory,
I shall see Him by and by!

Only faintly now I see Him,
    With the darkened veil between,
But a blessèd day is coming,
When His glory shall be seen.

    Refrain

    What rejoicing in His presence,
    When are banished grief and pain;
When the crooked ways are straightened,
And the dark things shall be plain.

    Refrain

    Face to face—oh, blissful moment!
    Face to face—to see and know;
Face to face with my Redeemer,
Jesus Christ Who loves me so.

    Refrain

    Love,
    Theresa

  3. “…where You would set your love…”

God set His love on me before I even knew it!
His grasp was gentle, yet He tugged at me until I turned and came “face to face” with my Savior.
    How wonderful His love is!

Thanks, Deb, for the journey through the Old Testament; I am looking forward to the “New” 🙂

Bee well, my friend, you are such a blessing!
    Love, Bee

  4. Deb, I love this poem, and I love how you ended our journey through Deuteronomy with the face of Jesus. 🙂 I am sooooo excited about reading what God reveals to you in John. It is my favorite Gospel, and most days my favorite book of the Bible. I’ve read it many times and am looking forward to seeing it with a fresh perspective. Peace, Linda

  5. Ann full of grace . . .you left me a song!!!! I love it!!! And I want us all to be ready too. Thank you and God bless you as you seek His face each day.

  6. Okay . .. now I’m in tears. Ann leaves a song and you bring a hymn. I am so, so blessed.

“when the crooked ways are straightened
and the dark things shall be plain.” 🙂

Thank you and God bless you. I am so blessed to have you with me!

    love you!

  7. Bee . . .I love that about how He set His love on you. That is so true! One of those lengths that He goes to and does not turn from.
I’m so thankful for you, Bee. And congratulations for being featured at Linda’s Tuesday Three! 🙂
    love you sweet friend!

  8. I didn’t even think about ending Deuteronomy with seeing Jesus’ face. ! He’s so good. 🙂 I love what you see here.
Linda . . .when I started reading John, I thought of you. And I thought I can’t do this. ha! Just wanted to put the whole book here and let Him speak that way. But, I’ll try. 🙂
God bless you and your love for Him!

  9. I am so honored to be featured in the same post as you! Congratulations to you, too, Miss Deb…you are a gem 🙂
    Love, Bee

  10. Deb, you know me, “that other kind of Christian.” I’m liberal but that does not mean I don’t love your poetry. Deuteronomy is not one of the books I look to for strength, frankly – I’m rooted in Isaiah and in James, among other books, but you have bridged the gap from Old to New beautifully here! Love, Amy

  11. Deb, We had a passage from John as our Gospel reading last Sunday, and I was thinking how I had read it so many times I thought I knew it all. But God spoke to me and said there is still more there that I have not grasped, that I need a fresh perspective. And then here you come, offering just that! I know you can do this, because you will rely on the Holy Spirit to guide you. 🙂 Peace, Linda

  12. Amy . . .I’m so glad that I have found you. Thinking that all the apostles weren’t exactly alike, but they all loved Jesus. Thank you for letting me keep hanging out at your blog and thank you for letting me keep learning about God through you too. 🙂 You know, my poetry isn’t all that. haha! No publisher would touch these with a ten foot pole. But, it’s what works here, for this time and this place. God bless you and all the ways He works through you!

  13. Dear Debbie, This inspired me…and you obviously have a desire to see Yeshua’s wonderful face.
He is the One who appeared to Moses and spoke to him “face to face”…
    Blessings from Susan.

  14. So good to see you here! God bless you and your ministry as you seek His face today!
