Not A Futile Thing

“Set your hearts on all the words which I testify among you today, which you shall command your children to be careful to observe – all the words of this law.” Deuteronomy 32:46
“For it is not a futile thing for you, because it is your life, and by this word you shall prolong your days in the land which you cross over the Jordan to possess.” Deuteronomy 32:47

Even though God had told Moses the people would turn away, he never stopped encouraging them to keep His commandments.

Thank You for the life You give us through Your Living Word . . .the Bible and Your Son. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Our Life

It is not a futile thing
to praise and worship our King
it is not a waste of time
to read the Bible’s every verse and line
for it is our life
filled with the power of Christ
our sustenance, our grace
our map for seeing His face.

  1. I really enjoyed the huge message in this short delivery. I Actually needed that word right now, that exact scripture. We tend to lose sight of the commandments and the promised land or Gods promises as we scurry through our everyday lives. Lester Crews

  3. Thanks, Deb

    Simply powerful!

(I would never think of going on a road trip without a map or GPS … why would I even think of taking on life without His directions? ) 😉

    Blessings,
    ann

  4. So blessed that you took the time to comment, Lester, and let me know how God used this for you. 🙂 You encourage me . . .thank you!!! And God bless you as you follow Him into all His promises!

  5. Thank you for using this at your blog today! Praying with you that it helps someone who comes by there. 🙂

  6. I like traveling through this life with you, Ann. You always bring lots of grace. We need that too, along with those directions. 😉 God bless you and yours this weekend!

  7. Deb, thank you for encouraging us to keep going to the word. It will not return void.

    Love,
    Theresa

  8. Nothing is futile when it comes to our relationship and spiritual growth 🙂

I have not written on here much, just wanted to tell you, my allergies got so bad this week (maybe a brain worm LOL), I think it went into my eyes, and going to eye doctor today 😦 I am fine, just wearing sunglasses to walk around house and get on here a few minutes during the day.

I still love coming here and seeing what your up too 🙂

    Peace my friend…

  9. Hi Debbie,

How well our Lord knows that we are all sinners, but He does not want us to stop looking to Him to carry us through this veil of tears and struggles….This reminds me of Solomon’s prayer dedicating the Temple…. He said that when God needed to punish the people for their faithlessness, and they then realize their sins and turn back to the Lord, please accept their prayers.

It works that way today, too.

    Love,
    Margaret

  10. Our time is short and we get pulled in so many directions. I really needed to hear Him confirm to me again that sticking to His word IS what I need to be doing each day. (even if my house isn’t spotless and I’m not the most wonderful cook in the world, etc, etc. ha!)
God bless you, sweet Theresa, and all the ways you send His word out!

  11. Elizabeth . . .you are doing so much each day and then having to battle with this. ggrrr. Praying for you help, healing, and relief from this allergy attack. Thank you for stopping by in the midst of it all. You bless me!
    love and prayers!

  12. Thank you Margaret, for that precious reminder of Solomon’s prayer. That really touched me. God bless you and surround you with His word and His love.

  13. Deb, This was so good. I love your focus on God’s Word and how “it is our life filled with the power of Christ.” Without His Word we would be so lost and separated from God. Thank you for this wonderful reminder. Peace, Linda

  14. God bless you, dear Linda! (It’s too late for you to be up commenting here though!) I was reading His word each day before blogging . . .but with blogging, He has made it more of my life even. I know it may sound crazy to some people, but I think you understand. 🙂 love you! Have a good weekend! Is the Traeger fixed?

  15. Deb, It was a busy morning so I didn’t get to read and comment earlier. Then you are right, I was up too late. Sorry to say the Traeger isn’t fixed, but I did get me a bottle of Salsa-Que at Farmers’ Market. I do understand His Word being a necessary part of our lives. Where would we be without it? Peace, Linda

  16. This poem is so perfect I can add nothing…except to say “THANK YOU!!”
I am writing it in My Beloved Bible so I can always remember what a precious gift you are to me!
    Love, Bee

  17. Bee . . .now I’m going to cry some more. God is so good. He always knows what we need and who we need. I’m so blessed to have found you, so glad He had you comment that first time so we could connect! 🙂 love you and have a great Sunday!

  18. You too, Miss Deb! Love you 🙂
