Our Chosen King

” . . .you shall surely set a king over you whom the Lord your God chooses, one from among your brethren you shall set as king over you. . .” Deuteronomy 17:15

God did not want just anyone ruling over His people.

Thank You, Father, for choosing the very best for us . . .Jesus Christ Your Son. And here’s a simple poem . . .

The Right Ruler

You chose for us a King
and lowly among us He came
though high and forever lifted
the whole earth praising His name.
He did not seek His own
personal growth and gain
but bore the word, the fear of God
a firm foundation, set and lain.

  1. Yay!

    Thank you, Deb πŸ™‚

Even though many reject this King, He’s still King over all πŸ˜‰

Thankful for the sacrifice Jesus made for us… for all of us, even those who pretend not to need Him!

    Blessings,
    ann

  2. Hi Debbie,

Jesus is our King and He is King of kings…. It’s marvelous and all goes back to 1 Samuel 8:1-22…. The Israelites wanted to be like the other nations and have an earthly king…. Samuel was aghast because God is King over all…. But, in 1 Samuel 8:7, God tells Samuel, “Listen to the voice of the people in regard to all that they say to you, for they have not rejected you, but THEY HAVE REJECTED ME FROM BEING KING OVER THEM.”

And then, Psalm 2 prophesies how God will set up His Anointed as King…. The power and authority with which our God rules is so much more than awesome…. And then to know He loves us dearly.

    Love,
    Margaret

  3. Deb, This is a wonderful prayer: “Thank You, Father, for choosing the very best for us . . .Jesus Christ Your Son.” What a blessing to have such a King as this! Peace, Linda

    P.S. I love the poem! πŸ™‚

  4. You know, Debbie, my daughter is agnostic (probably because her dad is Jewish, her stepdad is a pastor, and she lives in LA, ha ha), but I do not worry for her soul. I was agnostic for many years and only in retrospect can I see that, even when I denied God, God’s fingerprints were all over the most dangerous times, keeping me safe. Once I found out how glorious a life walking in the footsteps of Jesus could be, I never looked back. That’s my prayer for my daughter, and I do not fear she will find her way.

Your poem speaks to my state of mind every single day of my life. Bless you for your witness!

  5. We have a good King, a mighty King, a worthy King . . .and one who lays down His life for us all, believers and unbelievers alike. πŸ™‚ The BEST!
God bless you Ann full of grace and you give thanks for Him today!

  6. Thank you so much, Margaret, or your great comment. I love that He loves us this much, despite our rejections and failings. He still wants to be our God, to be our King. πŸ™‚
God bless you as you love others and your King!
    love to you too!

  7. We have the best ever ever, for always, King! πŸ™‚ Yay Jesus! God bless you and your deep love for Him and willingness to serve Him!
p.s. giggling about the poem love. πŸ™‚ I really needed more time to fix this one, but . .. ha! Just didn’t quite come together right at the end. But, He comes to us perfectly, and draws us together and I’m excited and joyful about that!

  8. Amy, I love that sweet assurance and confidence in your King, that we trust Him to draw those we love just like He drew us, protected us, saved us.
I loved your comment and the hope it sends out. God bless you and fill you to overflowing each day!
    love you!

  9. πŸ˜‰ A giggle was what I was going for! πŸ™‚

  10. I read your poem a few times in order to let the message sink in. It is so profound there is nothing I can add, other than thanking you for touching me with your sweet prose. Love you! πŸ™‚

  11. God bless you, Bee. πŸ™‚ So thankful is something touches you, if He can use these in some way. You know, it probably would’ve been a little plainer if I’d included more scripture. It was explaining what all the kings should and shouldn’t do. Jesus is the perfect King!
Love you and your sweet heart for Him!

  12. β€œ… bore the word …” β€” powerfully poetic, Deb; I really like that pithy phrase.

  13. Okay, Sir Geoff. Now the truth. I couldn’t read what I had scribbled so went with bore the word. haha! So, extra blessed by Him that it worked for you. God bless you as you write and support others, for your King.
