A Rejoicing Tithe

” . . .you shall eat there before the Lord your God, and you shall rejoice, you and your household.” Deuteronomy 14:26
“”At the end of every third year you shall bring out the tithe of your produce of that year and store it up within your gates.” Deuteronomy 14:28
“And the Levite, because he has no portion nor inheritance among you and the stranger and the fatherless and the widow who are within your gates, they come and eat and be satisfied, that the Lord your God may bless you in all the work of your hand which you do.” Deuteronomy 14:29

I received a different look at the tithe in this chapter, seeing more of God’s heart for us in it, to rejoice and bless others.

Lord, thank You for how You work in our work or lack of it, in our finances or need, as we give or as we receive help from others. And here’s a simple poem . . .

You bless us
as we bless others
storing up
in order to give
knowing You provide
the tithe and increase
and the every breath
we need to live.

  1. Deb, I love your focus on how God takes what we give as our tithe or blessing given to those in need, and turns it back into a blessing for the giver. Then everyone is blessed and none go hungry. I’m reminded of the Bread of Life that He gave for all that none may miss out on eternal life. Wonderful poem, as usual. 🙂 Peace, Linda

  2. Thank you, Linda, for always adding something special in your comments, that deepen the whole post and show us Jesus more. 🙂 God bless you as you give and receive in His name.

  3. Every time a blessing – every time I grow – every time a different angle on a passage of the Word. This time no different – I heart your words Deb. “You bless us
as we bless others” It is in the giving that we receive – and in the dying that we receive eternal life – and in the loving – that we. are. loved. God Bless and keep you and all of yours Deb. I really hearted this post. Thank you.

  4. God bless you, Craig! I loved the “in loving that we are loved.” You are more of a poet/writer than I and a deeper thinker. Thank you for coming and sharing some of His heart here. 🙂 I’m behind and have to catch up on your blogs this weekend! yay!

  5. Thank you, Deb

    I like-y!!

He gives so we can give!! We all have enough to share even when we don’t always think that way.

    Thanks Deb. Beautiful!

  6. You know what’s really beautiful? YOU! 🙂 God bless you Ann, full of grace and light and love!

  7. Deb I love how tithes work. It may look like we are blessing God with it but for me it is an indicator of how much we are willing to be blessed with so much more — then bless others more. When we joyfully release that little tithe in our hands, He gives something back from His hands — and His hands are much bigger!

May we not be so tight with tithes 🙂

  8. I loved reading this and having Him remind me that it’s not for His sake that He asks that we tithe. 🙂 God bless you, sweet Rea, and all that He does He and through you.

  9. This was a moving post. Thank you.

  10. Theresa, thank you for continuing to support and encourage . . .no matter what. God bless you and yours, bringing you through each trial and hardship, closer and stronger, healing and holding Him more and more. Thank you for blessing me/us!
