Facing Battles

“You shall not fear them, for the Lord your God Himself fights for you.” Deuteronomy 3:22

The children of Israel went from slaves, to travelers, to warriors.

O Lord, teach us which battles to enter into with You and which ones You are not a part of. And here’s a simple poem . . .

When He Says So

Some battles
need to be fought
some victories
need to be sought
and we can enter
in unafraid
for our God fights for us
in the fray.

  1. “for our God fights for us
    in the fray.”

That is a great thing to remember. Thank you so much for sharing this post.

    Love, Theresa

  2. Deb, What a wonderful prayer: “O Lord, teach us which battles to enter into with You and which ones You are not a part of.” I think I need to ponder this a bit and see if there are any battles I have been fighting that He is not a part of, and focus on the ones that “need to be fought.” Peace, Linda

  3. Thank you, Deb.

Like Linda, I come away with the prayer echoing in my head. Who knows the number of times I’ve gone in with sword a-wielding when He didn’t want me there? 😦
“O Lord, teach us which battles to enter into with You and which ones You are not a part of.”

  4. Hi Deb,
I have asked myself those same questions so many times, is this a battle I should be in? In looking back in the old testament, there were many victorius battles that were won by God’s people. One thing they all have in common though, God led them to battle. He told them who to attack, when to attack, and why to attack, and if they followed His advice, they were succesful every time, when they deviated, they failed.
When facing battles in life, I don’t have the benefit of the Angel of the Lord coming to visit me at my bedside and give me advice on which way I should go, as they did in the old Testament, But, I have an on-board guidance system called the Holy Spirit that leads me in the way I should go, “IF” I choose to listen to Him. Great post, God Bless

  5. God bless you, Theresa, in any and all battles that you face, with the knowledge that He is with you and loving you! πŸ™‚ Thank you so much for encouraging us here!

  6. I feel the same way, Linda. I mostly don’t like conflict, period, so have to be careful that I’m not sidestepping battles that He means for me to be in, while picking others that are more a matter of pride. God bless you, Linda, as you wait and follow Him!

  7. God bless you Ann, for being willing to wield His sword when He says so. πŸ™‚ So thankful for you, and that you are doing better!

  8. Thank you for the great comment, Jim! πŸ™‚ That IF . ..ya, that’s me too. If I don’t get impatient and jump the gun instead of waiting to hear from Him. God bless you as you let the Holy Spirit lead you today!

  9. Deb, the reason for my smile is He won so many battles for me — even the battles with my own self. He fought for the good over evil and if it seems I am losing, I am actually winning because the good prevails πŸ™‚

  10. You’re a winner Rea! πŸ™‚ He knew you were right from the start and fought for you when you couldn’t yet. God bless you and all the battles you enter into for your good God!

  11. Your words inspire me, as does His… πŸ™‚

  12. God bless you and be with you today!
