Divided and Broken

“Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, ‘Take this and divide it among yourselves. . .'” Luke 22:17
“And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, ‘This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me’.” Luke 22:19

This has me thinking of when He divided the loaves and fishes to feed the 5,000. Now He is preparing to feed the whole world.

Oh Lord, please let me be willing to be poured out and broken for You as You were for me. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Together

Go and prepare
a place for Me
where we can gather
intimately
for I’ll be divided
poured into each cup
broken, passed ’round
Bread filling you up.

  1. Deb, I really like this poem. Just last night I was reading the part of the book “The Day Christ Died” where He broke the bread and gave it to them as His body for them to eat. It was interesting because at that Passover meal, they all first ate of the lamb that had been earlier sacrificed at the Temple by Peter and John, and now He was replacing that lamb sacrifice with the promise of His own sacrifice as the Lamb of God. I love the timing in your post and my reading to pull it altogether as we journey towards Easter. Peace, Linda

  2. Thank you,Deb

I don’t know what to say … except thank you.

God bless you for this beautiful offering. Thankful He was poured out, ‘blessed broken and given’ for me.

    God bless you, Deb.

    Grateful,

  3. It really blesses me to hear how we are reading and going through this last supper, together, without knowing it. πŸ™‚ God bless you as you keep your heart prepared for Him. πŸ™‚

  4. Ann . . .you left 2 songs today!! Wow! Now I don’t know what to say. Yes I do . . .thank you!!! And a call to Aubrey to come closer, because it’s song time. πŸ™‚ God bless you and all the ways you share Him with the world.

  5. Deb,

God is really ministering through you.Thank you so much for blessing me.”Brokeness is what I long for,Brokeness is what I need, take my heart and form it,take my mind transform it,take my will confirm it,to yours oh lord”.This song makes me yearn to be like christ.

I pray all God’s blessings upon you.You are a child of the King. He’s getting ready to pour more into your cup,so you can share with all you come into contact with.

  6. Your comment has me in tears. I prayed today to want more of Him. Feeling like I’m playing it too safe. What am I waiting for? Then came home and found this from our resident power house pray-er. Thank you so much for encouraging me Kenisha and for the awesome prayers. You keep me going!

  7. Love the message, and the comments, too.

I like the way you internalize Scripture and make it your own. That’s really hard for me, so your writing helps.

In a very simple way, I’ve also been thinking about Jesus feeding the 5000. You know, there are all those people in Japan… all of them hungry. If He did it for the 5000, He could feed them, too.

A miracle of Biblical proportion for all the world to see. Just a thought… πŸ™‚

  8. Deb I have been thinking how God gave himself to each of us and still we have the whole of him. How he love all of us yet make us feel as if we are the most special. But then that’s why He is God πŸ™‚

  9. “Resident Power house pray-er” Oh Deb, God bless you.As I minister to you, pray for and with you,I minister to myself. So encouraging you, encourages me.Keep making your self available to our Father as he Re-fills,restores,revive and rewards you because you’re not writing by chance but it is a part of the master plan.

  10. Well, I thought I replied to this last night, but it isn’t here! Sorry, Linda!
I love what you think, a miracle of biblical proportions for all the world to see. I need you and how you see things and what you think and pray about and for. I keep being so thankful that each of us are a little different from the other, so that He keeps teaching me, enlightening me, growing me through each one I meet here.
God bless you, wonderful Linda, and the miracle you are in Him!

  11. Oh sweet Rea . . .that is the most beautiful thought you left! Thank you for sharing it . . .and maybe He will lead you to write a poem from it? It is really touching and special. A God moment. God bless you, His very special one!
