A Full House

“Then the master said to the servant, ‘Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled’.” Luke 14:23

So glad He wants His house filled, as I brush off the highway dust and pull the leaves out of my hair.

Lord, please help us get the word out that heaven isn’t a place for just a special few. And here’s a simple poem . . .

He’s Waiting For You

The invitations have been sent out
He’s making last minute calls
wants everyone to be there
to pack the place, wall to wall.

So if you’ve received your invite
but have not responded yet
please get with the Giver of the Dinner
a place is set with your name on it.

  1. Smiling as I read your post, and now as I paste this poem I wrote a while back.

Do I Hear the Banquet Call

    I wonder is the banquet set;
is the time now full at hand?
Is He sending now His servants
    to call throughout the land?

His call goes out for all to come,
    though many will not hear;
with good excuse they’ll miss it all,
    will later shed a tear.

The stops are pulled, no holds are barred,
    the call rings louder still;
‘We still have room’ the servant says,
    ‘I want My banquet filled’.

Oh hear the call that rings today,
for it may not ring again.
Don’t walk away when He calls for you
and miss what could have been.

  2. Deb, I love the thought of His house filled wall to wall! This reminded me of Big House by Audio Adrenaline. The chorus is awesome:

Come and go with me to my Father’s house
Come and go with me to my Father’s house

    It’s a big big house
with lots and lots a room
    A big big table
with lots and lots of food
    A big big yard
    where we can play football
    A big big house
    Its my Fathers house

All I know is a big ol’ house with rooms for everyone
All I know is lots a land where we can play and run
All I know is you need love and I’ve got a family
All I know is your all alone so why not come with me?

    Peace, Linda

  3. See you there, Deb 🙂

  4. Mike, I love your poems! Thank you so much for posting that one here, so appropriately! 🙂 Now you’ve got me smiling too. . .God bless you as you make those calls for Him.

  5. I love that song! ha! When I helped teach children’s church, we’d sing it and skip around the room while doing so.
I also thought of one by ? (maybe DC Talk?) . . .I Wish They’d All Been Ready.
God bless you, lovely Linda, and all the Word and music He has put in you!

  6. Oh ya! 🙂 love you!

  7. Thank you Deb

    Loving the comments too!

My name is written there … there’s a place for me too!

    What Princess Rea said! 🙂

  8. I am so thankful for that invitation!

Thank you for this great post!

  9. I was reminded of your post, gracious Ann, about going to that party. We need to respond!
God bless you and all you invite along too!

  10. I’m thankful too, that all we need to do is say Yes to Him . . .He takes care of the rest. 🙂
God bless you and all He is doing in you today!

  11. Amen to that poem, Sister.

I am consumed with thoughts like yours, that everyone who is invited needs to be there more than they know.

I am even more consumed with how the Japanese can hear the truth… missionaries plus the >2% who already believe. I am so sad for their souls.

Your heartfelt poem just reminds me of that truth. Thank you. (I didn’t disappear lately, just took a few days off for a migraine! 🙂

  12. I’m soooo sorry you’ve had a migraine! How do you cope with that? Please know that you don’t have to read or comment here all the time. I love you and love you being here, but people have so much to do in a day. There just isn’t time!!!! ha! I have fallen behind some this week, having taken on a small extra chore each day for a friend. Somehow it threw everything for a loop. What if I’d had a migraine????? You might not have ever seen me again. ha!
God bless you and your ongoing prayers and invites to those who He is calling! Please take care of you. You’re precious.

  13. I try to visit and comment every day because I’ve come to consider this valuable devotion time. It slows me down and makes me think… to give my heart to Jesus every day.

  14. Thank you… 🙂

  15. This is so timely for me, Deb. ‘Heaven isn’t a place for a special few.’ I pray that those who may think so have their eyes opened!

  16. Thinking the homeless may have some of the best seats. 🙂 God bless you as you open eyes with Jesus!
