Your Names Are Written

“Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven.” Luke 10:20

I love that while we can celebrate each victory, it’s still all about Him and what He’s done.

Oh Lord, thank You that whatever good or bad happens today, it can never overshadow the fact that we are Yours. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Non-erasable

Satan’s constant lies
eat away at our joy
we get knocked down
feeling lower than before

but our names are written
where they can never be erased
by Heaven’s pierced hand
in the blood of His grace.

  1. There is a line in that story that is a very big part of where I am wrestling right now. To Jesus it was nothing that the demons were subject to them. It was like He was saying, ‘That’s nothing! I saw him fall like lightening from heaven. He’s got nothing.’

His constant lies eat away also at our faith.

  2. “…by Heaven’s pierced hand and the blood of His grace.”

Deb, what a beautiful image! It speaks to me of how He chooses to be connected to us, involved in our lives despite our smallness and brokenness. He expends Himself on our behalf. What a great love! Thank you for expressing it as you did, Deb!

  3. And I’m sure mine is spelled right! This poem made me so happy Deb, though in tears. Thank you for erasing Satan’s lies.

  4. Deb, I really needed this prayer today: “Oh Lord, thank You that whatever good or bad happens today, it can never overshadow the fact that we are Yours.” Thank you. And I love the last line of your poem (actually, I love the whole poem, but the last line in particular is quite comforting).

    by Heaven’s pierced hand
in the blood of His grace.

This is a wonderful description of how our names were written in the Book of Life in the first place. What His hand and blood have done, nothing can erase. Peace, Linda

  5. I am there too, Mike. I can see glimpses. The lies are thick and get so ingrained into our thinking. Let’s keep pressing on into this faith that is more, that is bigger . . .just because we’re His.:)
God bless you and how you wrestle for His glory!

  6. Angel A . . .you have created a beautiful image in your comment! (more poet/writer skills coming out of you!) I love it . . .Him choosing to be connected to us and involved in our lives. My how you bless me!
God bless you and all the ways He expresses Himself through you each day!

  7. Oh yes, Rea Sonshine, you bet your name is spelled right and done in bright happy colors too! πŸ™‚ That’s what He sees each time He thinks of you . . .and He thinks of you all the time! God bless you and the joy you bring everywhere for Him!

  8. God bless you and your life that is written in heaven, and keeps getting written each day by His hand, for His glory. You are so precious and loved!

  9. Debbie… your poem is so full of power and redemption! Of course Satan lies, and of course we fall, but we must stay focused on the blood of salvation, the blood of His grace.

Reading your words today makes me feel stronger, even though my struggles stay the same.

    Always a joy… Hugs. πŸ™‚

  10. I love your comment Linda! Thank you! You add the emphasis on the “stuff” always being there . . .but it’s NOT what life is all about. It’s not what we are all about. We are His and He says rejoice in that. πŸ™‚
God bless you and the joy you are today!

  11. Thank you, Deb.

This is wonderful… absolutely wonderful. πŸ™‚

“I love that while we can celebrate each victory, it’s still all about Him and what He’s done.”

It’s all about Him! May His name be glorified πŸ™‚

This poem speaks volumes, I tell you. Thank you for sharing. His blood-stained hands took the nails for me and wrote my name for Life – “Non-erasable”!

He opened my eyes to truth so I don’t have to believe the lies anymore… I’m so blessed!

@Princess Rea, yes … correct spelling for me too πŸ™‚

    Thanks for sharing,
    ann

  12. Your comments make me smile and get excited! Thank you! No way can your joy and grace be erased . . .they dance all over the place!
God bless you Ann, and sing over you today!

  13. Beautiful…just beautiful words of truth…comforting, encouraging truth. Makes me cry just a little. It is like medicine for me. Here is a Bible verse your poem reminds me of:

“Can a woman forget her nursing child, or lack compassion for the child of her womb? Even if these forget, yet I will not forget you.” Isaiah 49:15

    Love,
    Theresa

  14. Deb, I forgot verse 16:

15″Can a woman forget her nursing child, or lack compassion for the child of her womb? Even if these forget, yet I will not forget you.16Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me. Isaiah 49:15-16

  15. That Isaiah verse makes me cry! We’ll just sob before Him together, okay? God bless you and all the ways His word lives and breathes in you!

  16. I love how He does that . . .how He comforts and overshadows us. . .and all that stuff that goes on, it just pales next to Him. According to Him, our names being written in heaven is just the best thing ever. πŸ™‚ I’m wanting to lay hold of that thought today! God bless you, beautiful and beloved one!

  17. Moore-what a beautiful verse!!! I came back here to reread what Deb wrote just before I try to go to sleep and here is your verse as well! What a deeply comforting and reassuring combination-your verse and Deb’s poem!!!! My mother, and I loved her, died at a rather young age, when I was a young adult, also, and she loved Jesus and said many wonderful things, yet these two-yours and Debbies-are even more wonderful than any earthly mother could possibly provide. We do have such a loving and compassionate Heavenly Parent!!
